I'll be going to Laos to get my Non-B as an international school teacher. I'm South African so I know I need to take a TOEIC test to get my work permit after that. But do I need it to get my Non-B in Laos? My school says no, but when I tried to get my Non-B at Bangkok Immigration they asked to see my TOEIC results and since I hadn't done the test yet they refused my application.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A South African teacher inquired about the necessity of taking the TOEIC test in order to obtain a Non-B visa while in Laos. The school's input suggested that the TOEIC is not required for the Non-B application in Laos, contrasting with experiences shared by others who noted that the TOEIC is necessary for obtaining a work permit in Thailand.
You do not need it in Laos. Only here when you get your work permit. I have just been through this. Bu the Toeic is required for us. Painful. But no need for it for this first step in Laos. Here in bKK they are full of it!
