Need some advice please. I need to change a Non ED visa into a Non B in a few weeks. *I do know this is a new visa. Was thinking of doing this is Kuala Lumpur. Is this a good place to do this? Or would going to Laos still be the best? Besides all the paperwork from my employer, what else would be needed to make this change? Would I need a letter from my University cancelling my ED visa? Or not?

Please assist is making the right choice here. I need something simple and as hassle free as possible.

Thank you in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on changing their Non ED visa to a Non B visa, questioning whether to do this in Kuala Lumpur or Laos, and whether they need to cancel their education visa via a letter from their university. Comments indicate that the Non ED visa cannot be converted directly to a Non B visa and must be canceled first, requiring a prior cancellation letter from the educational institution and application from outside Thailand.

Wow. Not much assistance in this question. Why can no one help give more advice on the best place to go at the moment for a new visa

, as long as the documentation from the company is correct you could go to any consulate but I'd say Vientiane is certainly a safe bet.

The company says I must go to whatever country is best. They sent people to Penang a few weeks ago. Landed up with a few problems with monies demanded. Thankfully I am not a fan of that place.

Thanx for the advice. I will double check what is needed to go to KL. But probably land up goin to Laos

what thai consulate does the company you're working for recommend you use? Most people who get Non-B visas outside the country are told by their company to go to xxx or yyy thai consulate.

KL is a by the book consulate, you meet all the requirements they list on their website for the visa you want or you will be denied.

An Ed visa CANNOT be converted to Non B visa. Cancel yr Ed visa first by a letter from the school , get out of Thailand . Then you can apply for your 90 days Non B anywhere outside Thailand with the help of papers from yr employer.

Realised it is a whole new visa. Was trying to chance my luck in seeing if it could be done here. But clearly leave the country. Now to find the best place to go and do this in

And to also clarify, this can only be done outside the country? Not here in BKK?
