How long do you plan to stay in Thailand, on your return? If less than 60 days, you could just take the 30 day visa exemption stamp, and then go to your local immigration office and extend that 30 more days ฿1900

Depends on which non-o and if you meet the requirements.

E.g a non-o retirement needs 800k banked for two months in a Thai bank to extend it. Or it's 400k for a non-o marriage.

If you are prepared to put 800k in a Thai bank account, you'll be paying an agent for mostly old rope. The only real challenge is opening a bank account as a tourist, perhaps use an agent for that, do the rest yourself.
