How straight forward is it to get a re-entry permit at Don Muang? I went to my local immigration today to find out they've relocated to a new building 1 hour away and I don't have enough free time to get it sorted before the flight.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Getting a re-entry permit at Don Muang Airport is relatively straightforward, but there are some important details. The re-entry desk is located after passport control, which means you need to inform the staff of your intent to get a re-entry permit before they stamp your passport. The fee is typically around 1000 baht, but be prepared for an extra cost in case of processing fees. Travelers recommend arriving at the airport at least two hours in advance. Recent updates suggest that there is now a designated re-entry office at Don Muang, and travelers report no extra fees related to administrative processing.

I came thru Don Muang last week and got a re-entry stamp. It is just behind passport control and it took less than 5 min.
I had a application for re-entry filled out with passport photo attached so no delay and it cost 1000 baht exactly no processing fee.
I’m pretty sure I read a post that DMK now have a new re-entry “office” where they will process it. No idea where it is in relation to before or after immigration but they don’t charge an extra fee for “admin” purposes.
yeah Facebook is hopeless on trying to find previous posts but I definitely remember seeing a photo and a caption saying something like “new re-entry” office.

Go to the airport 2 hours early and you should be fine.

It's pretty simple, but the big difference from BKK airport is that the re-entry desk is AFTER passport control. So they will stamp you out of Thailand before you get your re-entry permit. Make sure you tell them before that happens that you need a re-entry permit, and that you have the correct amount of cash on you. It's 1000 baht, but expect to pay 1200 since they may insist on a processing fee.
