I have had both tourist from USA and visa on arrival in past. The way they made it sound was that they were looking for abuse with soft power DTV.

nah I was here on a tourist visa before. They questioned why I was here before getting the dtv, and in conversations told them I had a Thai wife in addition to doing what I am here for a dtv on. They let me in, but was in holding for about an hour, and they said in future I was going to have to switch to marriage visa.

I didn’t get denied, but got sent to interrogation for a long time, looked into, and got told that I need a different visa because have a Thai wife. It was initially because I had been in Thailand for a few months earlier this year.
