Thank you for your response. The affidavit issued by the French embassy is just a simple declaration on honor without any verification. I’ve seen that it has been rejected by some immigration offices, so I have some doubts.

But if we try this option, does that mean we would need to make an appointment in Vientiane, for example, to apply for the 90-day non-O visa? Then, would we process the extension of the non-O visa for the first year in Thailand solely using the affidavit? Any other options you’d recommend for the initial 90-day visa and the first one-year extension?
