If you attend in the morning around 1600.

In the Afternoon the following morning.

Or

You can collect at some appointed date.

Chonburi and Bangkok are unique. Many other offices simply provide on demand that day

Live in authentic Thailand where the language is a must rather than being merely convenient. I get by but I have been told by a few Thai freinds that being fluent comes with a caveat. Some will label you a Cheap Charlie.!

God only knows why.? 😬

I would suggest the following. Assuming you are seriously considering this. Chiang Mai is VERY “Touristy” and relatively unauthentic,do not commit to anything. Find a base and rent. Be sure you can be get to and from it simply. Then go look, where you may end up may suprise you.

Unless of course your Embassy offers an affidavit in lieu. US, UK Australia and many EU countries refuse to. So you need to show 12 consecutive 65K deposits from a Clearing bank international transfer. But be warned, every office has different protocols and expect grief. Golden rule with Thai Immigration. Always have a plan B.!

I believe that some Overseas Thai Embassies will accept that. Then issue a Non O Retirement Visa. However what you get is 90 days followed by a requirement of an extension granted by an Immigration Office. That’s valid for 12 months. Without the lump sum in the bank the answer is going to be No. They will allow it however on any subsequent extensions, but there are strict rules, get it wrong and no visa. To be honest with you it’s far more straightforward to just deposit 800K and write it off effectively. There’s good reason for it and That’s the price you pay to live here long term.

I wish you well

I write this from experience. Having done the various permutations. I had my first two Non O Visa’s done by an Agent. The third I did myself, no issues at all. But having that Having 800K + in the Bank is by far the most straightforward option.

Because each office has their own local protocols.

As do the banks. You can get caught out through no fault of your own. You are also making your Visa “ future proof” remember No Visa - No nothing.
