Actually it was discussed very recently by David Cameron & the Thai Prime Minister to facilitate easier visa access to the UK for Thai Nationals, along with a discussion about the probability of a free trade agreement.

Are you sure about not being able to use Wise for international transfer? I've been using Wise for years and have PDF'sfor every transfer, plus my UK bank statement which confirms transfer of funds from my UK bank-Wise-SCB Thailand.

If/when I get to go back to los, if I need a hospital I'd go to a Government hospital because if I had to pay for hospital I'd rather my money go to a government hospital than a private one.

All private health insurance is unethical. They can call the UK NHS all they want, it's overstretched because of all the freeloaders crossing the English channel in dinghies and trucks, plus all the indigenous who take it for granted with their shitty lifestyle habits, but I cherish OUR NHS.

I tried that in December last John and a Thai business friend came with me and had a slip from immigration stating where I was staying. I had a 60 day TR. Only tried SCB., who incidentally I had an account with years ago, that I opened on a VOA. How times have changed. Stayed in Thailand on & off for 11 years on mostly VOA's. In the 11 years I only got a 2 month TR from Penang, one from Vientiane and my last one before I came back to the UK, a 12 month multiple entry 'O'.
