Here we go again all the so called experts who have no clue go to a visa agent for advice all it costs is your time.

But on this site there are the negative doubters who have no clue and state they are a rip off?

How can a visa agent be a rip off for advice?

I don’t feel for others that take it on themselves then blame immigration but it’s entirely the persons fault and using this site for advice you on a path to nowhere.

well stated John exactly they are enforcing the rules now and if they believe you are abusing then although you state I have done the right thing?

You know as well as I do Thai immigration believes you are using the system to extend the stay in Thailand and immigration spell it get the correct long term visa don’t just assume what you are doing is correct because it’s called interpretation and it’s Thai immigration that dictates that.

Well stated John

Stirland Bradburn thank you Stirland you are explaining the process and I agree especially with Bangkok bank who take forever I had to notify the banks of a passport number change.

Bangkok bank shocking process and time taken and my other banks around 30 minutes even that was too long.

But having someone explaining all the facts others just believe they know and get it in their mind all is okay are they in for a shock.

But well explained

JP you are correct.

I went to update my passport number to a new number and they made a point about the visa type they even asked me and confirmed it in the passport.

All the banks are listed Even ICBC has the same policy.

There are some certain transactions that the bank asks for your passport and now theres an extra reason they know that you told them what visa you are on but they check the passport and photo copy it as well.

Official Policy: Most major banks, including Kasikorn, Krungthai, TMBThanachart (TTB), and SCB, have official policies against opening or maintaining accounts for holders of the DTV and other tourist visas.

Varied Enforcement: Enforcement can vary by branch and individual bank officer. Some people have their accounts remain open for months or longer, while others face immediate closure. However, relying on this is a risk.

depends on the visa now if she’s on a tourist visa she’s very, very lucky,

If you opened a Thai bank account with a qualifying visa (such as a work or retirement visa) and then switched to a Destination Thailand Visa (DTV), the bank account may still work for a time, but it is at significant risk of being frozen or closed. Banks have tightened policies and the DTV is generally classified as a tourist visa, which is now largely ineligible for banking services in Thailand.

Thai banks, under the Common Reporting Standard (CRS) and in an effort to combat fraud and money laundering, are scrutinizing accounts held by foreigners. They may eventually identify accounts where the associated visa status is no longer a long-term, bank-friendly one.

Anonymous participant 725 absolutely spot on it’s not if it’s when the bank will catch up to you it’s when.

You have reiterated what the banks are doing it’s correct

Tim where did you get that information from a DTV is classed as a tourist visa e Eryn e I know on a DTV have had their back account closed,

The statements made by banks is clear, many expat YouTubers who have lived in Thailand for decades have warned of the back issue it not if the bank catches up with you it’s when.
