@Nongnuch *******
my chinese friend was denied assistance at Kota Baru Thai consulate before. The reason given was Visa for China Passport needs to be applied with the Thai Consulate in China. I believe making a call or sending an email to Thai Consulate in Vientiane to clarify prior to making a trip there would be a wise move.

I’m not so sure about that. As I was told that China Passports can only apply for Visas in the Thai Consulate in their home country, this information was given by a Chinese friend and the language school a while ago. Maybe things have changed? 🤔

i was told my my Mainland chinese friends as well as the language schools, they are required to return to their home country to apply whatever forms of visa. This includes ED visa. Would recommended to contact their home country’s Thai Embassy to confirm this. Hope this helps.

EDITED: I got halted in Don Meuang 2 weeks ago. I’m a Malaysian with a Spouse visa previously. I left the Kingdom to Penang when my Visa expired in November and came back in 3 days. Then left again for Kuala Lumpur when my Visa Free 45 days was about to end to go back home and stayed in Kuala Lumpur for 4 days. When I arrived, immigration officer halted me and questioned me if I was doing a Visa run. So I explained that I wasn’t and merely because I had some matters to take care of back at home and I will be leaving again on Chinese New Year which is 2 weeks after the arrival. Showed my return ticket, but still got investigated. Finally, they escalate me to one of their senior officers, and they let me through after a 15 minute chat. What I am told by the senior officer is that rules are very tight now, if you do two Visa runs (technically leaving the kingdom for a couple of days and returning) as a continuation of your Visa, it will trigger a red flag on the system. I was recommended to leave the Kingdom for at least a 30 day interval. The logic given by the senior officer is that it would be unfair for those who actually applied for Long Stay Visas if we use the 45 days Visa Free which is intended for Travel use as a method of long stay in the Kingdom.

i did twice from hua hin to sungai golok, it was an 18 hour ride, wouldn't have done it if i didnt need to do my visa run. in my honest opinion, there's plenty of other travel options and a flight dont cost that much difference
