exactly. The employer is saying they are going to cancel it and then they said oh they’ll be nice and extend it another month. They aren’t going to cancel it. It costs them time and money to do so and they have shown that they don’t do much that requires effort from them. I wrote an explanation in the comment above. Will be a 3-4 day overstay only if they cancel it when they say they will. There’s a 7 day grace period after that and then they will be leaving anyway 3 or 4 days later. Forget a visa run they will just be prepared to pay overstay of 3 or 4 days at the airport.

the school is saying a lot of half truths and scare tactics. Really muddying the waters. With all information in now, tbh it’s best they just sit until the ‘new date they will cancel her WP’ (because they’re so nice 🙄- saying they will extend the WP that extra month 😂)

There’s a 7 day grace period after the date school said it will be canceled-and max 4 days after that when they would be leaving to a proper job on 1 or 2 January.

They will still have that visa that says Aug 2025 and many teachers will be coming and going for winter break at that time. Seems possible they will just fly right out… no need for a visa run. They will carry the overstay fees for the 3 or 4 days and arrive early at the airport in case there’s any sort of situation.

SEA is just garbage for 80% of teachers, it’s just not right.

At the end of the day they grabbed something not knowing any better because they really needed to leave ‘home’ and now have already secured a true legit job and elsewhere.

If it’s a tot and a mom leaving, would they charge both upon exit?

And if you’re on a WP (is it called Non O?) the school says they are cancelling it 🙄

and child is on ed visa,

you can’t get an extension on that work permit, right? So isn’t it cheaper and easier if you need to stay 34 days more to just stay and pay fines on exit instead of doing a visa run and coming back as a tourist for 34 days?

I’m not misunderstanding anything. The first response to his comment - and the same person doubled down in following comments- - directly about the cost- so for that guy, it is about money- he pounced on the cost- in an effort to discount the comment.

A suggestion was made- which is what OP asked for. Someone responded snarky and even with misinformation and that’s never been addressed. This person explained it was the best advice he had and that it was the option that worked for him. Every negative response to that has been a reach, envy - and implying that he said it was easy and available to anyone. He never said that. I look at words- I respond to words. I understood the words and the obvious salty self pity, trying to act like he said something outrageous or inappropriate- he didn’t 🤷🏻‍♀️

Is 50k really that much when you look at the value there? Is 50k honestly that much at all?? For a person with any employment at all?

It may be within reach of this OP who has the means to buy property and travel with regularity… she asked and he made a suggestion based on his experience, which is exactly what everyone else that answered did. He isn’t some villain because people want to read into it and claim it’s an oversimplification 🙄 we don’t know her status or resources. People need to grow up- he answered OP, why do people feel the need to comment on the suggestions of others? It’s inappropriate behavior and being defended 🤣

all he did was offer OP another option, and state the cost. That suggestions and facts were accurate. The other commenter was highly inaccurate, but has support 🤦🏻‍♀️ 🤣 let’s ignore that him being salty and trying to make someone feel wrong ended up just exposing his pettiness. There was no discussion about the percentage of people it was available to? It was a suggestion and an accurate quote of the cost?
