Ray Bingham I would plan to do the same and have it sat in a 'high' interest easy access account. some of these are paying around 4% interest, so would be earning around £120/month. Personal circumstances will dictate what is suitable for each of us.
What does the airline say about getting you back to the UK and how long will it take? Surely they should be working to get you home. The timescale will give you ideas and options to discuss with immigration.
Thanks for your various replies, only a few of which addressed my question, before being side tracked into broader VISA discussions and did not address MY question. I was planning on going across the border with Thai family for the day to do some shopping/site seeing. It wasn't a border run, or looking for 30 day extension or anything untoward, just a day trip. However, I decided not to risk it and remained in Chaing Rai while the rest of my Thai family went. Thanks again
I was told once by a colleague "Better to have and not need, than to need and not have". I have applied that principle all the time and never failed to achieve my objective.
