Anonymous participant 675 To be clear you are saying you do the visa run in day 180 and have no problems and are refuting what anonymous 991 is saying about needing to leave a few days before day 180?

Anonymous participant 991 Wait, can you elaborate as to why people would need to leave a few days before they reach 180 days?

For example, I do a border run every 90 days in Vietnam because my visa lasts 90 days. I can leave on day 90 to Cambodia and come back in a few hours when my new visa is granted.

Thailand does not operate the same day even with a granted DTV Visa? I’m about to apply for one in two months which is why I’m curious.

I’m curious, if someone met all the criteria and were still denied for some reason, how long is it before a person can apply to try again?

Like the OP I am even more worried as an American applying since the US just oddly put Thailand on the banned list.

Anonymous participant I will just wait until the end of March and will apply. I want to do everything by the books to increase my chances.

Congrats! I am hoping to apply for mine through Hanoi as well. I live in Saigon and there is a Thai embassy here in Saigon but I guess the school I plan to apply for said Hanoi approved better for some reason.

So someone told you that the 3 months of bank records were not needed? From everyone I’ve heard from so far they said it was required? The school for instance told me I need them when I apply.

I’m specifically waiting until the end of March because I need to hold the 500k THB in my checking account for that duration.

I agree. I certainly don’t like it. If I am understanding everyone’s comments in here though they are saying by default learning Thai is not considered under the soft power DTV visa umbrella.

So some schools to get around that are including like a week or 2 of a cultural class to therefore allow the visa to fall under the umbrella. Does that make it worth it if they can get the visa approved?

just for the school to give me all the alleged required documents to apply for the DTV cots would cost 30k baht and then 6 months of learning this would cost 25k more baht.

just got the 500k THB deposited into my account 2 weeks ago and I planned on applying for the DTV on January 5th but just found out the 500k balance must be maintained 3 months before I apply. I wrongly thought it was 3 months before I landed.

I was kind of devastated and the teacher I spoke with said if I applied with the money only hitting my account for a few weeks I would be denied.

He mentioned the whole sponsorship thing. So they just need 3 months worth of bank records from a family member who will sponsor you? Nothing else?
