Even with a proper visa you can get a surprise. I always come for 6 months a year with a multiple entry Turist visa, never overstayed, never extended, always travel around Asia for a couple of days up to 1-2 weeks around day 50... and i got questioned at the airport last time. I also went in and out by plane, no landcrossing.

Thailand is getting crazy again about visas abd they are reverting 60 day exemption to 30. They are crazy controlling even multiple tr paid visas too.

Oh you may. I never overstayed everything clean and perfect, I have a multiple entry TR. I've been in and out every 40-58 days for longer trips and on my 2nd entry they questioned me 2 weeks ago. They told me to get DTV if I want to travel for 6 months in and out. So what's the point of multiple TR then lol... which is valid btw.

yea, they asked me why I went only for 2 days ( I broke my toe, so it was pointles travelling more than 2 days with a broken toe lol... plus they couldn't comprehend that people go for trips for 2 days only) and asked for a return flight. I always stay here 6 months a year on multiple entry and they told mew they suspect I live here and work illegally (big lol). I never got an extension, I was always out before 60 days for at least a week at a time, no overstays ever and proof of employment outside if Thailand. Still they told me to get dtv ... coz apparently multiple entry "is not for us to live in Thailand". I told them that I paid a 6 months visa that was approved, that is multiple entry and they have no proofs that I work illegally and then they let me go. And still shouted at me to get dtv next time.

I have multiple entry TR and they questioned me too 2 weeks ago. Never overstayed. Just when for a, weekend to KL and got questioned even with multiple entry TR.
