Update on Health Insurance for OA visas.

Please note this is only for Chiang Mai immigration.... and is a conversation between an IO and Visa Agent.

I am also aware of the errors in the nomenclature used by the IO in the post, do not shoot the messenger. I have no info outside of this, but would be interesting to confirm this for anyone going to Chang Mai immigration over the next few weeks.

Officer have confirmed that any person who has previously held an OA visa and then extended it inside Thailand WILL NEED health insurance for the renewal. This means if you arrived 3 years a go on an OA visa and since then have been getting extensions in Chiang Mai, you will need to show health insurance at your next extension.

I'm editing this to include nong kai immigration who have said to a member in another forum, almost exactly the same thing... extensions of stay for those who held a previous OA will also be required to have qualifying health insurance.

WE ARE AWARE of the "talked about" possible changes in TM30 rules by Thai Immigration and government officials.

HOWEVER...until the RULES ARE FACT...please DO NOT post links to news articles or stories about such possible changes. Such stories and discussion will be deleted.

WHEN AND IF changes are made FACTUAL we will be among the first to share with you what in FACT are the TM30 requirements.

UNTIL THEN...please check with your LOCAL THAI IMMIGRATION office for their filing requirements.
