Tourist visa cancelled due to incorrect address, will this be a problem going visa exempt?

I know that it is all down to the immigration officer but I would like to get this groups opinion. My partner is Japanese and currently in Japan. No prior visa runs. She will fly with me (LTR visa holder) to Thailand for 45 days holidays on Tuesday. We are not yet married.

With all the news on reducing to 30 days on visa exempt, we decided to play safe and apply for a single entry tourist visa to ensure she gets 60 days. Now turns out she hasn't updated her Japanese driving licence and id yet after moving recently and bank statement address/visa application address do not match driving licence address.

Embassy just requested driving licence from her and I am sure the application will be cancelled once submitted. I hope just cancelled, not declined.

Do people in this group think (I know, nothing is certain) that she will get issues then flying just visa exempt? We will print out return flights, hotels, THB 20k cash in the pocket.

I will be with her. Too late to apply again and the ticket is non refundable business class, would be shame to lose this.

Non-O Retirement Visa & 1-Year Extension – Experience from Krabi Immigration (Thailand)

I would like to share my experience with the Non-O Retirement Visa and the 1-year extension at Krabi Immigration completed yesterday, as reading similar reports helped me a lot during my own process.

Background / Timeline

• In Thailand since 1 June 2025

• Initially entered on a Tourist Visa

• Long-term goal: Non-O Retirement Visa + 1-year Extension

Important Lesson Learned (Malaysia)

My first attempt via Malaysia (Penang) was cancelled.

This was not due to missing funds or incomplete documents, but because of a formal rule:

The Non-O visa application must be submitted entirely outside Thailand.

Submitting the application while still in Thailand and leaving afterwards does not comply with the regulations and may result in cancellation.

Very frustrating at the time, but an important lesson.

Second Attempt – Vietnam

• Applied in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

• Successfully received the Non-O Retirement Visa (90 days)

• Re-entered Thailand

• Applied for the 1-year retirement extension at Krabi Immigration

👉 Extension approved. Process completed successfully.

✅ KRABI IMMIGRATION – PRACTICAL CHECKLIST

(Non-O Retirement Extension, 1 Year – based on my personal experience)

1. Application Forms

• TM7 (completed and signed)

• Photo attached to TM7 (as required by Immigration)

• STM.2 (Acknowledgement of conditions)

• STM.9 (Overstay penalties acknowledgement)

• STM.11 (Consent for fact-checking)

2. Passport

• Passport (original)

• Copies of relevant pages:

• Bio page

• Current Non-O visa

• Entry stamp

• TM6: NONE (accepted)

3. Financial Requirement (800,000 THB method – as required in my case)

For my application at Krabi Immigration, copies of the bank book alone were NOT sufficient.

The following documents were required:

• Official Bank Letter

• Issued on the same day or the previous day

• Confirming name, account number and balance

• Official Bank Statement

• Issued by the bank

• Showing account history, as requested by Immigration

• Bank Book (original)

• Copies of the Bank Book

• Title page

• Latest updated page

👉 Important:

In my case, an official bank statement was mandatory.

Bank book copies alone were not accepted.

4. Address / Residence (Krabi-specific practice)

• TM30 confirmed

• Residence photos (color):

• Outside of the building

• House / unit number

• Living room

• Kitchen

• Photos submitted on A4 pages and signed

5. Hand-Drawn Map

• A4, hand-drawn

• Showing:

• Main road

• 2–3 well-known landmarks

• Condo / residence name

• House number

• General direction

• Name, address and signature at the bottom

6. 90-Day Report

• Not required if 90 days have not yet been reached

(checked internally by Immigration)

7. Fee

• 1,900 THB (cash)

8. Practical Notes (Krabi Experience)

• Photos and a hand-drawn map are commonly requested, especially for a first retirement extension

• The source of funds was not discussed

• Taxes, foreign income or crypto were not part of the process

• Short, clear answers worked best

Additional important note (Thai culture):

Always remain calm, friendly and respectful.

Do not lose your temper — and also do not lose face yourself.

Accept Thai culture as it is, stay polite and cooperative at all times.

This applies not only at Immigration, but also when opening a bank account or dealing with any Thai authority.

For me, dressing respectfully (long trousers and a shirt) was part of that mindset.

Conclusion

The process is manageable, but procedural accuracy matters.

A rejection is not necessarily the end — sometimes it is simply a detour.

You can prepare all documents in advance, but the Non-O visa application must be submitted while you are physically outside Thailand.

In my case, the Non-O visa application itself was handled completely online, but it was submitted while I was staying outside Thailand.

The 1-year retirement extension, however, required physical presence at Immigration.

For the extension, one complete set of documents was submitted in person at Krabi Immigration.

In my case, both the bank letter and the bank statement had to be provided as originals, and no additional document copies were required.

I hope this summary helps others preparing for a Non-O Retirement Extension in Krabi.

Hello! Does anyone know if it matters if the address on my bank and remote work payment proofs are from a different state within the USA? I already work remotely for 5 years and my mailing address on these statements and my taxes is from a different state than my current license and residence. This has to do with taxes and work not anything inappropriate, but I don't want to raise any weird red flags by accident. Can I simply use my bank statements, paystubs and taxes as proof of my address and not bother with my license or current lease/utility bill?

In view of on-going Bangkok Bank problems, I am thinking of opening another account elsewhere. Despite having lived at the same address for over a decade, nothing is in my name. So, how do I prove my address? Is a Thai driving licence sufficient? Seem to recall something about a yellow book. Is that an answer? Something from Immigration, despite them never having visited?

Dear digital nomads,

If you've been asked for a utility bill/rental agreement/drivers license to prove your address, but you don't have that, what did you do?

(I've already sent my bank statements with my UK address, but my parents pay the bills and own the flat, so that's why I don't have those things)

Thanks so much ✨

Ps I'm a UK citizen applying in London

PPS my friend sent his mortgage from the bank, if that helps someone, but I don't have a mortgage

90 day reporting online.

We have many posts from people that have tried to do online 90 day reports that have been rejected. Many times the reason for the rejection isn’t clear or even stated.

The 90 day report system takes your request to file online and routes it to your local immigration office to approve or reject. Like many things in Thailand different offices have different policies.

The two main reasons for a rejection are that you are trying to do your first report online since entering Thailand. It doesn’t matter that you’ve been here for 20 years. If you’ve just returned from a trip abroad and are trying to file online it may be rejected as it’s your “first” report since entering.

The second and possibly the main reason is that the address you are using on your report doesn’t match the address that’s on file for your TM30. Many people I see coming in to the office state that “they’ve been in the same address for X years” so it shouldn’t be an issue. But forget that they stayed in a hotel (or even a hospital) 2 months ago in Samui or Bangkok or Nakon Si Nowhere. The hotel/hospital is obliged to file a TM30 for you and therefore updates your registered address to their location.

As stated its office specific, so one office may approve the filing whereas another will reject it. If rejected you can file a new TM30 online and try again. Perhaps you will need to go to your local office to resolve but almost certainly they will tell you the same thing. The address on file for the TM30 isn’t the same as the address used for the 90 day report.

Good morning:

I am in the process of filing mt DTV application and I have run into a few roadblocks and need some help

Address: I live in a remote part of Alaska and when I put in my Post Office box address and my postal code my town is not included in the list? No what?

Professional portfolio: I own 2 businesses so I want to upload enough proof of the online business. Box 5 (professional portfolio)only allowes me to attach 1 document. How do I attach more than one or attach a file?

Hiring an agent: My first trip to Thailand during covid including the 7+7 program. I hired a agent to do my visa and it was worth it. So has anyone hired an agen?

Sorry guys, I'm a bit confused about the "two addresses" situation.

When I say that my permanent address is not the same as my current one, it offers me add another one.

However they are both called "Home address", and I'm confused about which one should be the one back in my home country, and which one is my place of stay in Cambodia?

Thanks in advance for the help 🙏

DTV Address Verification (US Citizen)

The Thai Consulate (e-visa) requested a utility bill or driver's license for address verification to process my DTV. My driver's license is from another state and all the utility bills are in my dad's name.

Does anyone have any experience using alternative documents for address verification?
