Will my partner face issues entering Thailand on a visa exemption after her tourist visa application was canceled due to address discrepancies?

Tourist visa cancelled due to incorrect address, will this be a problem going visa exempt?

I know that it is all down to the immigration officer but I would like to get this groups opinion. My partner is Japanese and currently in Japan. No prior visa runs. She will fly with me (LTR visa holder) to Thailand for 45 days holidays on Tuesday. We are not yet married.

With all the news on reducing to 30 days on visa exempt, we decided to play safe and apply for a single entry tourist visa to ensure she gets 60 days. Now turns out she hasn't updated her Japanese driving licence and id yet after moving recently and bank statement address/visa application address do not match driving licence address.

Embassy just requested driving licence from her and I am sure the application will be cancelled once submitted. I hope just cancelled, not declined.

Do people in this group think (I know, nothing is certain) that she will get issues then flying just visa exempt? We will print out return flights, hotels, THB 20k cash in the pocket.

I will be with her. Too late to apply again and the ticket is non refundable business class, would be shame to lose this.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned that their partner's tourist visa application will be cancelled due to an address discrepancy and is wondering if this will affect her ability to enter Thailand on a visa exemption. The discussion highlights that, as long as the partner holds a passport from a visa exemption country and meets basic entry requirements, she should not face significant issues entering Thailand. Participants noted the importance of having proof of return flights, sufficient funds, and suggested utilizing fast-track immigration services.

Nobody cares whether you are married or not. You are different persons to the Immigration. She should sail in on 60 days visa exemption.

Why use 2 sentences when you can use 30 . Must hurt to organize thoughts.

All that babble and you still don’t make any sense .

Business class can also go through the priority immigration lanes to the right of regular lanes. Show your ticket to the attendant near the main walkway. Helpful in all regards IMO.

CoolRama I am on an LTR visa, so I can also use fast track. Never used any VIP services but might do this time to be sure.

GrayRambutan8107 vip and fast track aren't the same. VIP is through an agent who gives tea money to a high ranking IO at the airport to ensure a smooth process.

If she doesn’t have any violent records in her passport then it should be fine to visit with the 60 day exemption rule.

That sounds odd, as you are not required to provide a residential address in the visa application beyond an initial place of stay upon arrival. Otherwise, only proof of current location is required.

If you hold a passport from a visa exemption country, it ultimately comes down to the immigration officer’s discretion and how long you have stayed in Thailand as a tourist within a rolling 12–15 month period.

Jan Kenneth Nesland problem is proof of current location as her Japanese id and driving licence don't match her bank statement to show funds because of recent change in address at home.

GrayRambutan8107 Ok but the issue here is only to prove that she’s physically anywhere in Japan when she applies and not apply from another country as she needs to be located under the foreign missions jurisdiction for to apply.

Visa runs are not particularly relevant, how much time has she spent in Thailand in the last 12-18 months?

she was working in Thailand for 3 years and on a non-B until 31st of March. Non-B was cancelled and she flew to Japan 2 weeks ago. I was told by visa companies that this doesn't count as she was officially working in Thailand not a tourist. Now she just wants to chill out a bit before deciding what to do next.

Visa exempt is 60 days. There no news about reducing to 30 days. Even if somehow it become 30 out of nowhere, can extend 30 more days at immigration. She will have no issue coming in no matter what she's on. You read too much fearmongering which doesn't apply to her situation (no prior visa runs).

Sujy Sujaree The Minister responsible has said 60 days is to be reduced to 30 days - he did not give a date for this, but it is going to happen and soon.
