Larry Lee Gearhart yes it’s the normal way, talk to immigration, but if you do not have a bank account, you have to leave.

I told to Krabi Immigration concerning Retirement and the would had help me, but only if I had a bank account and you‘ll get no account without visa.

Talk to them, my advice, when you have an account.

They also tell you what‘s necessary.

Talk to immigration office if you have already a bank account and the deposit or confirmation of retirement income.

They might help you in transformation to extension of stay (1 year)

Good luck 🍀👍

Technically correct 😉

What gets extended is the permission to stay, based on that visa.

But yeah, that’s exactly what I meant 👍

I tried, but no chance — I had to go outside Thailand.

Even the application itself has to be done abroad. If you stay in Thailand while applying, they’ll cancel it.

Without a Thai bank account, nothing really moves forward, and you won’t get it on a tourist visa anyway.

I’m in Krabi and had exactly this experience in Malaysia.

After waiting two weeks, my application was cancelled because I applied while still staying in Thailand.

In the end, I got my visa at HMC and have already extended it.

If you don’t have 800k for in complete 6 month of Application (initial visa, extension stay) it might be better to change to OA, Main difference is : no 800k needed, but a Health insurance valid for one year is required.

Yes, it was a long journey with a few twists and turns — but everything is done now, and next time the extension should be much easier.

That can vary a lot depending on where you apply.

In my case, both applications required additional documents or written clarifications.

In Penang (Malaysia), I waited 10 days, submitted the requested documents, and the application was eventually cancelled because it had been submitted while I was still in Thailand.

In Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City), additional documents were also requested, but the application was approved after 5 working days, which seems fairly normal there.

So I’d say 5 working days is the minimum, but more time is definitely possible — it really depends on where you apply.

Collywobble Thomason 🤣 yes, I was also a bit surprised by pictures and especially the map to ensure that you really live there.

Visa exempt’s and runs doesn’t work anymore, because not more than 2 yearly. New rules.

Graham Seal only applicable on a 2nd extension, not on the first.
