I have a friend in Ho Chi Minh city who had his ED Visa (English language) denied for the following reasons:

- The ministry education papers should o longer show more than one level on the same request (he is beginner writing, intermediate conversation)

>>>>THIS CANNOT BE DEALT WITH NOW as the original document has to be sent back to MOE to be modified.

- The embassy now requires proof AND source of funds for the last three months.

>>>>HOW TO PROVE YOUR FUNDS ARE PROVIDED BY YOUR PARENTS?

Since at least one of the requirements can't be met, what are the alternatives for him:

- French nationality

- 19 years old

- Money comes from his parents who are retired living in Thailand

>>>>Tourist visa is not an option, is support visa can be done at 19yo? Thanks<<<<

TLDR : Answer Summary
A 19-year-old French citizen faced denial of their ED Visa for studying English in Thailand, mainly due to a mismatch in educational documentation and insufficient proof of funds. Recommendations from the community include flying back on a visa-exempt entry and enrolling in a reputable university instead of an informal language school. Additionally, providing proof of funds through bank statements from his parents' account is suggested as a viable option. Since he's under 20, exploring a support visa alongside his parents' financial backing is also noted as a potential course of action.

The fact that the consulates don't take MOE paperwork with beginner/intermediate on it is WELL KNOWN and has been going on for over a month now. I'd say their school doesn't know what they're doing.

The proof of funds is by showing a bank book, so have his parents who support him put money in his thai bank account to meet the proof of funds

I think it raised far more flags that a french person is applying for an ED visa to study ENGLISH in a private language school in thailand. I mean french people take english in school.

Still, if they can't wait it out in Vietnam to get the correct documents from the school AND to meet the proof of funds, they should take the advice
@Amor****
offered and fly back in on a 30 day visa exempt entry make a new plan and try again.

is he too old to get a visa Non-O to stay with his parents?

And all the time i read a bank statement will do to meet the financial requirements. There is no proof asked who send in the money.

Fly back in on visa exempt and sign up at a real University. Sorry to be so blunt but what is in the mind of people ? A 19 year old sign up for a language course at an informal school. Surely that has raised the alarm bell. No need to put your comments in Capital letters.

You know, but the staff at Royal Thai Consulate does not know and now HCMC is being recommended by many as the place to go. So your friend is caught in that wave of people seeking a Non ED.

his school has a good teacher and he does one on one. For that price no university can offer that it's a bit deceiving that because of some visamill schools some other gets penalized...

learning English in Thailand as a French student...

He should sign up to a known school for teaching English to foreigners.

Curious why that would raise an alarm bell.

the reason he needs English courses is that he has been living in Thailand for 5 years now and hasn't got much English tutorship.

I understand that people are under stress in that situation.
