Coming to Phuket on tourists visa on 18 May to enroll my son in school. School will provide documents for ED and Guardian visa. We are South Africab passports holders. Can we apply in Phuket for Ed and Guardian Visa? We were suppose to relocate in July only but relocating in May already. Your advice will be much appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the possibility of applying for an ED (Education) and Guardian visa in Phuket while currently on a tourist visa. They are South African passport holders arriving on May 18 to enroll their son in school, which will provide the necessary documentation for the visa application. It is noted that if the school has the correct paperwork, it may be possible to apply at the Phuket Immigration office; otherwise, they would need to travel abroad for the application.

Blimey, Thailand must suddenly be at the top of the table of world Education standards considering the amount of people moving here for there child's education.

Weird considering the majority of expats I know, move there children out of Thailand to educate them?

No we are not moving there because of the education. We are moving there and my child needs to be in school

absolutely not lol

I don't think anyone would move here for the main reason of educating their kids though???

Lucky for some I guess. Not me lol!

That is certainly true....costs of schooling here are astronomical and much higher than even the top private schools in the UK.

Sadly unless you can afford up to 200k a term in a credited international school here, your kid won't even learn history because the teachers haven't a clue either. My gf is a teacher here and they won't even employ western teachers anymore because the standard is so poor.

Nobody, unless they are prepared to shell out big money would move a child here to be educated if they had the child's interest at heart.

Yes as I said, there are some top schools here but the majority can't afford them and it's a fact that you could find private education cheaper in your home country.

Sadly, unless you go private or grammar school, the UK isn't all it's cracked up to be Ed wise. With an average of 35 kids in a class it is no wonder really. So Thailand life and potentially an equivalent if not better ed? Makes sense to me :-)

If the School has all the correct paperwork it is possible to apply for the Visa at Phuket Immigration office. otherwise it will mean a trip abroad. Ask the school where you have to apply.
