Hi all. I'm Australian. I turn 50 years old on February 2025. I will then apply for a retirement visa. I'm currently on an education visa. Can you please recommend what I should do when my education visa runs out on 5 September 2024. What are my options? Thank you very much in advance . ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Australian expat currently on an education visa, which expires on September 5, 2024, is seeking advice on options for staying in Thailand before applying for a retirement visa at the age of 50 in February 2025. Community members suggest options including returning to Australia or traveling until February, applying for a tourist visa (such as the METV), getting another education visa, or taking a short vacation and then re-entering Thailand to extend the stay. There are also discussions on retirement age and pension eligibility.

Take a nice little vacay somewhere for a week and come back in. By that time, there should be 60 day visa exemptions which you can extend by 30 days. Which takes you to roughly 10 December. Then border bounce and come back in for another 90 days during which time you can sort out your visa and retirement extension. All should be very easy

Get another education visa in your province. It would help to know what province you are in.

1) You can go home or travelling until feb and get ready for retirement. Gives you a break and looks good on your passport as not having back to back stamps.

2) or get on tourist visa 6 months METV

3) there should be some update on rollout of the new destination Thailand visa which is 6 months
