I'd be grateful for information on changing from "Married" to 'Retirement' Visa. I'm 55, so qualify on age, plus I know you need 800,000 in the bank or 65,000 per month coming in - Many thanks :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process to change your visa status from a "Married" Visa to a "Retirement" Visa in Thailand is straightforward. If you are currently on an extension of stay based on marriage, simply apply for your next extension and change the reason from marriage to retirement. Ensure that you meet the financial requirements, which include having either 800,000 baht deposited in your account for a specified period or a monthly income of at least 65,000 baht, supported by a notarized letter from your consulate. A combination of the banked money and earned income totaling 800,000 baht is also acceptable.

now, when you change why you're getting an extension some immigration offices will want you to bring your wife too :O Even though you're applying for an extension based on retirement and it doesn't matter if you have a thai wife or not they wanna see her.

It's pretty simple. If you're currently on an extension of stay based on marriage, when you apply for your next extension of stay all you do is change the reason for the extension from marriage to retirement.

Then meet the financial requirements of 800K baht banked in an account in your name only the requisite time, a notarized letter from your consulate that you get at least 65K baht a month or a combination of banked money and earned income that totals 800K baht.
