TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on obtaining a Retirement Visa in Thailand after their job ends on December 20. They previously held a Retirement Visa but had to cancel it for a Non-B Visa to get a work permit in Penang. With only eight days left to secure a new Retirement Visa, they prefer assistance in Central Pattaya. Community members suggest visiting the immigration office to inquire about switching the current Non-B Visa to a Retirement extension if certain financial requirements are met. They note that visa agents cannot be recommended, but various online resources may help find one.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.

Unfortunately, the group has a no referral for agents inside the country that push paper at immigration offices around the country. So if you need an agent to push paper for you I'd say google is your friend. There's no shortage of ads for agents that will get visas for people inside the country.

I would say, go to the immigration office and ask if you can apply for an extension based on retirement off this Non-B after you cancel your work permit and show them the termination papers from your employer.

The real rule to get a yearly extension of stay based on being over 50 (retirement) is that you hold a Non-Immigrant visa. It doesn't specify the type has to be a Non-O just that it has to be a Non-Immigrant visa (which a Non-B definitely is).

If you meet the financial requirements of either 800K baht banked for 60 days or 65K baht a month in income using a notarized certificate from your consulate they might let you just go straight to a yearly extension based on retirement straight off this Non-B.

Tod is right. They just want the letter and are not concerned the info is not corroborated by the US. Or you have the 800k in the bank for 60 days which you may not have given timescales.

Jo-ee,I'm not arguing, I'm stating a fact that it doesn't matter to the immigration office.

You can show up at many consulates and write what ever you want on the "stat dec" form. All the consulate does is notarize that your name is at the top and you signed it in front of them.

Like I said, only the Canadian and the UK consulates require proof to write the letter for you.

Still, the immigration office accepts the letters from any consulate that will issue them without question.

Jo-ee, you are incorrect, the immigration offices accept a affidavit of income from abroad from the embassies all the time. Most embassies don't care what you put on the paper and only notarize that you signed it in front of them. The only two consulates I can think of that actually DO care what you put down are the UK and the Canadian consulates. In both of those you show the documentation about the income and they write the letter for you.

I have a work permit but obviously that will be cancelled along with the Visa on the 20th? The job didn't work out, I had a Retirement visa valid until May 2018, but obviously that got canned when I had to get the Visa in Penang so this current Visa was a 90 Day non B that is sort of standard procedure to get the WP, then it would normally be extended, but instead I am leaving.

that is correct.

ahh so you're still on the original 90 day entry of the Non-B?

If you are on an extension, you can go cancel your work permit, take that receipt to the immigration office, cancel your current extension of stay based on employment and immediately apply for a yearly extension based on being over 50 (retirement) as long as you meet the financial requirements. They'll issue it right then. All you are doing is changing the reason for your extension from employment to retirement.

Here's the question, are you now on an extension of stay based on employment OR are you still on a Non-B visa from the consulate?
