Does anyone know a doctor for pain. After a knee replacement, the meds just don't cut it. Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about doctors for pain management after a knee replacement, sparking a discussion on various medications and hospitals in Thailand. Commenters suggested specific medications like Tramadol and Arcoxia, recommended locations such as Bangkok Hospital and King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, and shared their experiences with pain management after surgery. There were also protective mentions about the dangers of addiction to opioids and the importance of physiotherapy in recovery.

Still recovering after 2 months. Cost around $250,000 baht. Very painful still with certain movement. Get the strongest pain meds you can get. I was on morphine at first then 3 tramadol 50 mg.
Andrew ********
Tks. Where did you go Bill?

The knee hurts like hell after a replacement operation. You just have to fight through it with physio. I used to take 2 tramadol tablets 20 minutes before physio and still screamed the roof down.

Sorry, but it takes time.

Go to Bangkok hospital they are better than most US hospitals… other than Mayo and Johns Hopkins of course

Go to the international hospital in bangkok

Arcoxia works very well for knee pain. They usually give 90 mg. once a day. For me, Tramadol takes hours to work and it doesn't help all that much. Makes me sleepy too.

return to the physician who did the operation

If the meds aren’t cutting it, get checked. Most pain comes from swelling. I’ve had two done. After the first week, it’s all about reducing salt and elevating and icing.
Adam ******
Give this a go. Good luck.

Get a good physio.

Ice 30 mins on and then 30 off.

Do this all day. Keep knee elevated. Slightly flexed Rest.

Take meds given If pain doesn’t settle get back to the dr. as may have infection.

Ask for tramadol, most pharmacies have it in stock but it’s a controlled substance so they might want to see your passport. Sometimes they only have the paracetamol/tramadol mix and that’s usually more expensive. It’s a good idea to go ask a few, different prices everywhere. I have paid from 40-100 bath for 10 tablets, 50mg. My normal dose is 1 tramadol and 2 paracetamol. Don’t drive until you know how your body reacts, and be careful when drinking…..I have been using this for on and off for 25 years.

trampoline may relieve pain, but makes you really goofy

That’s why I suggested to be careful and not drive until he knows how his body reacts. Not everyone get same reaction. And yes I have seen people do crazy things when combined with alcohol. But not from 50mg…..

You’re in Thailand, pharmacy meds are not your only option!

My knee replacement was similar.

Had it done in Oz but still not perfect after 4 yrs.

My friend did his in Thailand and it healed very quickly and successfully.

I plan to do my left knee here as painful now.

Just make sure you do the exercises, like stretches. squats and climbing stairs when you can.

@David ******
stop it. You are going to get him addicted and he's going to watch to end things if he doesn't get that drug.
