What should I consider when seeking medical appointments for my DTV Visa application in Thailand?

Anyone experience with the 'medical' category?

I'm too sick for Muay Thai and don't like cooking.

I have contacted numerous hospitals. One replied initially but when I asked to confirm the appointments, they never replied.

Is it a mistake to mention the DTV? Better just ask for the apointments and not scare them? But I will need them to provide a nice paper with letterhead and all...

Please share Dr. recommendations in the chat. I'm mostly looking for nutrient testing and nutrition consulting.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around seeking medical appointments in Thailand for the DTV Visa application, focusing specifically on nutrient testing and nutrition consulting. Users emphasize the importance of obtaining a doctor's letter on official letterhead confirming multiple ongoing appointments for the visa process. Several recommendations include not mentioning the DTV Visa directly to healthcare providers, as well as sharing experiences of others who successfully secured necessary documentation from their medical professionals for visa purposes.

Under medical... there is over 1,000 treatments.

I did hair transplant. A friend of mine did beauty facial treatments.

- You simply need, multiple appointments.

- Letter from clinic stating you are are a patient with ongoing treatment, mentioned your appointments. More appointments the better.

(Letter needs to include the doctor & clinics registration number)

If for example you did a dental cleaning, it could be an appointment scheduled every 3 months.

(I wrote the letter myself using chatgpt, then gave it to the doctor to use & stamp & email back to me)

I had 9 appointments shown on my letter & my initial message./ discussion with the doctor was included as "consultation/assessment" appointment.

I didn't tell the doctor it was for DTV, I asked if they could do the letter as it helps for visa/visiting thailand purposes.

As a tourist you are supposed to have an exit/return flight booked.

I'd just say I need the letter, so I'm not obligated to book an exit/return flight.

I already had a doctor i was seeing in Bangkok. I just asked her to give me a letter confirming I was a patient of hers and that hospital. She put in the letter 1 appointment in December and it was approved, no questions asked. It must be on official hospital letterhead with the doctors signature. I just said I needed it for my visa, didn't mention what visa I was applying for.

Wat I did:

- book appointment for Neurosurgeon at a Bangkok Hospital online, received a pdf confirmation.

- applied and received DTV in Jakarta with, medical appointment, bank statement and passport.

Im under legit treatment. But at least in Jakarta all I needed was a single initial consultation appointment

If you make an appointment at Bangkok Hospital via email they will confirm the appointment in writing. They won't give you a list of treatments and dates until you are seen by a doctor.

You're going to need a medical reason to obtain the appointment from a doctor and hospital to support your DTV Visa Application. What you have reasoned is not a good approach.

What is your passport nation?

Where will you be applying for the DTV Visa?

Where are you now?

DTV - Taipei Experience

Arrived in Taipei 07:30 on Monday morning, at the Taipei office by 09:00. Picked up the DTV 16:00 on Wednesday and back on the plane by 1930! πŸ˜‚

I have been in/out of Thailand since February 2024 on an MTV and then the latter months on Visa Exemption and decided to extend my stay in the country through the DTV soft power category. Due to a condition, I have to have dental checks every 3 months so, visited the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital Dental department who set up a care plan for the next 12 months. I was able to use these 4 check up appointments plus an up and coming appointment to repair a chipped tooth to qualify for the Medical Treatment category of the DTV. Checked in advance with the Taipei office and they required appointment slips along with a medical certificate from the dentist department.

Submitted it all at 0900 and was told to come back that day at 1530 for a decision outcome. When I returned they explained that the supervisor wanted to have an interview the following day (Tuesday) at 1500. (Panic started to set in) So nervous as hell I was called in to the side room at 1500 and was out by 1504! They just wanted to check where the savings ammount had come from and future pending payments and that I wasn't working within the country. She also asked why did I apply in Taipei and not anywhere else and I was honest and replied with "because I used my miles on EVA which made it cheaper" πŸ˜‚ She approved it there and then and told me to go back on Wednesday at 1600 to collect it!

Overall the experience in Taipei was great, the staff are very friendly and helpful. I was nervous being called for an interview but she was very nice and didn't make it stressful at all! Would highly recommend the office in Taipei and Taipei is a very nice city although, I was shivering for the entire 3 days. I am glad to be back in the Thai heat!

Just because you sign up to Muay Thai course dosent mean you have to attend
James ********
@Charles *********
AND fraudently obtaining the DTV Visa is not a good idea 😑
Charles **********
@James *******
not really fraudulent, where does it say in the requirements You HAVE to attend, also some people only signed up to 1 month and it was accepted.

I don’t think Thai embassies care to much whether you attend or not
Wannikea *********
@Charles *********
when the purpose of the visa is to ATTEND a course, function, seminar, appointment etc and someone doesn't do it, especially intentionally, you are not legitimately or legally in compliance with the reason the visa was issued. It is fraud, it was obtained under false pretense.

I'm sure you remember the crackdown on the fraud obtained Ed Visa and Volunteer Visas of recent years.

It's so easy to get the DTV Visa, no need to get it by intent to not participate in the Muay Thai training one signed up for in the application.

just remember, if you get the DTV now, and changes are made in the future, you are grandfathered in, with those changes not affecting you for at least five years your initial visa is valid for. That is how Thailand operates. Currently they are researching, seeing how people are abusing, or trying to scam the system, and will make changes in the near future to address the abuses. This is the Thai way. They did the same thing with retirement visas, education visas, volunteer visas, and will do the same with the DTV as time goes by. Currently there are no after-issue requirements. The only current requirements are to get the visa. There is no requirement that the money stays in the bank. No requirement that you attend any classes you signed up for, or no requirement that you continue working remotely after you get the visa. Requirements will change as time goes by, and some changes are starting to take effect at different Thai embassies already, but the exact requirements when you get it now won't change for the five years you initially have it. That is how Thailand does things.

big mouth know all did you comprehend that. You can say anything against the know all's here or they remove you. Care factor

I agree with the GRANDFATHERING you mentioned.

I disagree with the comment about not being required to attend the courses for which you applied for and visa granted.

To seek to work around the purpose of the Thai Visa is not wise.

The DTV visa is a welcomed addition for many, especially for the Digital Nomads.

what's concerning is that it's so much better visa and less trouble and no reentry-permits, no annual paper work compared to the retirement thingy.

I had hoped that they would have reformed the retirement recent and made that simpler and better too but that hasn't happened...
James ********
@Jonas ************
agreed πŸ‘

@James *******
the only thing they could do that would improve the situation for retirement. Is to explicitly state that there is no taxes to declare/pay unless you have income earned in Thailand.

That's supposedly was one of the benefits of the retirement thingy. Now nothing is really clear if it's any different.

@James *******
there are no requirements, and Thailand goes by the requirements when you initially received the visa. They have always operated that way. I'll use the ED visa as an example. Initially there were no attendance requirements, but as the abuse showed up, and got worse, they required it being extended every 90 days, with documents from the school, and certified by the ministry of education, that you were attending class, and making adequate advancement, even though it was a one year visa. There are other examples, with retirement visa extensions, and others, but Thailand doesn't change the rules on you until the visa ends, or you relinquish it, starting over. There are still a few people on old retirement visa extensions that are only required to have bt20,000 in the bank, as that was the requirement when they initially got the visa, and it hasn't lapsed. Idealistically your thinking is right, but Thailand operates on reality, not idealism.
