TLDR : Answer Summary
The fine for overstaying a visa in Thailand is typically 500 baht per day, payable when leaving the country. For a one or two day overstay, the fines would amount to 500 or 1000 baht respectively. However, overstaying even for a short period can lead to serious consequences such as arrest, detention, deportation, or a ban from re-entering the country, particularly if contacted by immigration authorities. It's advisable to seek visa extensions to avoid overstaying.

There’s a recent story of a British man held in prison for overstaying his Visa. The prison conditions in Thailand are very bad.

you can't "overstay your visa", because your visa has already become invalid upon entering Thailand. You can only overstay your "stay permit" . . . . other than that, NEVER EVER go into an overstay seeingly, if there is a way to avoid it, like applying for a touristic extension of the stay permit

Overstaying your visa in Thailand can result in fines, arrest, imprisonment, deportation, and a ban from re-entering the country. The length of the ban depends on how long you overstayed.

Fines

The fine for overstaying by one day is usually 500 baht.

The maximum fine is 20,000 baht.

You may also have to pay repatriation costs, such as airfare and other fees.

Arrest

If you are caught overstaying by an immigration officer, you may be arrested and taken to jail.

You may be held in the Immigration Detention Centre (IDC) in Bangkok until your court hearing and flight home are arranged.

Deportation

If you overstay for more than 90 days, you may be deported from Thailand.

You may be required to pay repatriation costs.

Re-entry ban

You may be banned from re-entering Thailand for several years, depending on how long you overstayed.

The length of the ban increases with the length of the overstay.

Voluntary surrender

If you voluntarily surrender to authorities, the ban period may be shorter.

You can apply for a visa extension before your visa expires.

Why over stay? Just extend your visa, you’ll get an overstay stamp in your passport not something you want to have if you come to Thailand all the time

It's not the fine .

It's immigration prison if you are stopped and checked (I have seen that happen ,)

Two day red stamp.,a red flag to every immigration officer in any country that looks at your passport .

It's a really bad idea

You should never go on overstay if you can avoid it.

Although it's unlikely with only some days, if you have any interaction with the police (random traffic checkpoint, car with facial recognition camera

or even following a workshop where they check the teacher) while you're even on one day overstay, you can be arrested, taken to deportation jail, and held there until your flight (which has to be a direct one to your home country at your own expenses). Even with one day overstay you'll be banned from Thailand for 5 years when caught.

If you get to the airport then you'll pay a fine (500 per day) and receive an overstay stamp in your passport. An overstay stamp could potentially affect your ability to purchase a visa to another country or enter another country or Thailand in the future.

You pay 500 baht per day but I'd avoid it if at all possible. If you come into contact with the police while on overstay you will potentially be arrested, transfered to immigration detention centre and deported

thanks. Try to avoid both speeding and overstaying in Thailand. Speeding poses an immediate danger to your safety and others on the road, with severe consequences such as accidents, fines, or imprisonment. Overstaying your visa can lead to legal issues, fines, deportation, or being blacklisted from the country. It's best to follow the rules to ensure a safe and hassle-free stay.

the ‘constant questioning’ is more likely due your Ed visa. Or something else. My advice is avoid overstay too. But recognize that you pay your fine and it’s over. I have several. And zero problems
