TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about being asked to report to Immigration within 24 hours of entering Thailand while seeking an extension for a retirement visa, questioning if this was a new rule. Comments confirmed that this has always been a requirement but is now being strictly enforced, citing the 1979 Immigration Act as the basis of the rule. Ongoing discussions highlight the increased attention to this regulation, particularly for both expats frequently entering or moving within Thailand.

It's from the 1979 Immigration Act. It's an OLD rule being newly enforced.

OK, I was never knowing about this, although I frequently travel in and out of Thailand and visit my local Immigration office for my family visa issues, they just casually asked me about this and I told them I never heard of this, I was asked to fill up a form and provide them

Its a rule that they are starting to enforce now. Its always been there. But now its being engorced. If you leave thailand and comeback you have to report, even if you move house etc... aswell.
