TLDR : Answer Summary
The community suggests that instead of seeking an agent in Pattaya for the DTV visa, it is advisable to read existing posts on forums like Thai Visa Advice to understand the requirements. The general consensus is that agents cannot help with the DTV visa application, which must be submitted outside Thailand at a Thai embassy or consulate. Additionally, individuals are urged to ensure they meet the financial requirements (500,000 Thai baht) necessary for the application.

What can an agent do? Put 500K in the bank like they do for the retirement visa?

Agents in Pattaya have contacts at Jomtien Immigration. Immigration do not process the issuing of a DTV. The MFA does that at embassies or consulates outside Thailand. Agents cannot really do much for you.

I think different Embassies and Consulates have different requirents. Some need the 500k to have been seeded for example a few months and other it just needs to be there at the time of application. There seems to be no standard like with the Retirement. Agents putting in money for the retirement put it in the applicants own bank account in Thailand. They are with the applicant the whole time at the bank ie they transfer the 800k into your account at the bank. Go to the counter and get a letter from the bank showing the money. Transfer the money back out to there account right away. At no point does the applicant have the opportunity to access those funds. The bank, immigration and agent work together in a specific locations. Doing this for the DTV would be logistically more difficult. Which bank receives the money? Is it a Thai one? Not saying it is impossible but it is more difficult. Are agents working with specific staff at the place of application?

I would think it's very unlikely agents have any connections in embassies/consulates outside of Thailand, so I'm assuming applicants are send an embassy/consulate, where it only needs to show a balance at the time of application in any bank, so it would be done in the same way as you described with the retirement visa 🤔

I am same opinion as you. It would be difficult foo agents to have contacts in multiple locations. Would have to be where a letter showing a recent balance was fine.

I've seen agents offering packages, that include transport, accommodation, assistance completing any paperwork, and also offering assistance with the financial requirements, very expensive tho, I enquired with one agent, and was told depending on the package, it's between ฿70k to ฿90k baht 😲😳😂🤣😂🤷

Seen these as well. I suggest if you need that them maybe the visa is not really for them and I would question their right to hold a passport for their own well being hahahah. The financial packet is an interesting one. Agents provide it for those getting the retirement visa. However? It is in your bank for minutes while the bank prints a letter. The agent takes that to their friendly immigration office. Are these agents offering similar at an Embassy or Consulate? Risk all round much higher.

correct me if I'm wrong, people are saying with the DTV visa, they have provided 3-6 months of bank statements, but the ฿500k doesn't need to be there for any length of time, it just needs to show a final balance of ฿500k, so perhaps the agents are going it in a similar way to the retirement visa, where they just fire the money into someone's account, print a statement, and fire it back out again, the difference with the agents doing the retirement visa, some how it gets overlooked, that the money has not been there for the previous two months, but that doesn't seem to be a requirement with the DTV, so maybe they are okay to travel to say Lao, with all the paperwork and just apply.

No need for agent bro. You either have the paperwork or not. Super easy to apply online.

applying online is forbidden when inside Thailand. Only from the country where you say you’re currently on the evisa website.

Why an agent?

The only reason I could see for using an agent is if they do not have the 500k. Just like many retirees use agents to put 800k in the bank

Suggest you read the posts about getting the DVT visa on this forum and on Thai Visa Advice forum. You will find out how to get the DTV visa.

You cannot apply for it inside Thailand. Read the posts...

Select a Thai Embassy or Consulate in SE Asia, look at their website for their requirements for the DTV visa.

Do you have 500,000 Thai baht or equivalent currency in a bank account in your name only?
