I'm looking for recommendations on health insurance company. I'm moving to Thailand in 3 months and will stay in Thailand most of the year.

For those of you who live in Thailand most of the year, what company offers the best package and premiums?

I'm not looking just for the lowest premium. I'm also looking for a company that has a good reputation for honoring their policy when problems do happen.

Since I will be going back to Canada most summers to visit family, I would also need a company that offers international coverage (i.e. Thailand, Canada, and other Asian and European countries that I might travel to).

Do any of you have a similar situation in terms of health insurance requirements?

Thanks for your help and suggestions.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The community discusses various health insurance options available for expats moving to Thailand, emphasizing the need for comprehensive coverage, especially for those who often travel between Thailand and other countries like Canada. Recommendations include companies such as Pacific Cross, Aetna, AXA, Luma Health, and ACS Insurance, with insights on their premiums, coverage options, and customer service experiences. Many respondents suggest consulting insurance agents or using specific online services for tailored advice based on individual needs.

From my experience (I did a research for my expat boss who travelled a lot before), I would recommend “Luma” since they offer plan(s) that covers other countries as well if I recall it right.

Anyway best is to reach out to Darren at

since he can give you comparison of different policies/companies and help suggest which one is most suitable for your situation.

He is a health insurance consultant who my boss used the service when living in Thailand. Very professional guy with lots of experience and knowledge. Definitely one of the best in Thailand.

My wife and I are with Pacific cross. She broke her leg just over a month into the policy and they were very good considering we went to two hospitals, all covered on the policy was paid in full. She had her hip joint replaced 🙂

If you want cover for motorbike accident included, choose Axa or ACS.

I use Pacific Cross, they have numerous packages to pick from, premium is very competitive and they also offer a no claim bonus each year you don’t claim. Have a look at their website, their head office is in Bangkok.
