On retirement Visa, just returned to Thailand 2 days ago. Staying in hotel. Question about TM 30 Reporting. I understand I need to show TM30 from when I entered Thailand. Hotel supposed to submit it. I need it for my 1st 90 day report

Hotel only gave me a signed letter confirming my stay? Not a copy of TM 30.

What will happen when I do 1st 90 day report?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Upon returning to Thailand on a retirement visa, it is required for hotels to submit a TM30 report to immigration within 24 hours of your check-in. If your hotel only provided a letter confirming your stay and not a TM30, you may need to ask them to provide evidence of the submission, such as a screenshot or copy of the TM30. It appears that some immigration offices, like in Pattaya, are requiring a copy of the TM30 upon filing your first 90-day report, which has led to confusion among expats. In the event the hotel cannot provide the document, you might need to visit the immigration office yourself with the letter from the hotel to clarify your status.

They should have done it for you. I got fined 800 baht as didn’t realise it was not done

Technically I guess TM30 is always required when you enter Thailand. However, whether it is really put into use depends on you. If in the whole course of stay you don't need to deal with immigration, you may ignore it. However, if you have to convert / extend your visa, they may ask you to provide it.

I think TM 30 is not required anymore...

To be confirmed

I went to check in the day after arrival....CMI told me I didn't need to as no address change & sent me away....

Take the letter to immigration they will give you the proper receipt required to be in passport.
Amanda ****

you should be ok but really go to the immi centre where you live and ask. You have plenty of time to arrange as when you enter the 90 day clock starts ticking again. Or did you go back to your home?

@Phil *****
actually just came back 3 days ago so clock starts now.

clock starts when you are stamped in with your rentry permit.

Last year I used a hotel receipt in buriram even though I'm living in Bangkok. It was accepted at immi chang stadium

It's pretty common now for immigration to require a new TM30 on return from overseas. My office started doing that a year or so ago. They made a point of giving me the form when I applied for a re-entry permit. I'd not had to do one previously. Out of interest what did the hotel letter say as you are meant to have a long term address for the retirement visa?

Thanks. I will go to immigration next week.

it just confirmed my 30 day reservation (planning on renting a condo later).

@Chuck ********
I suspect that is their definition of "long term ". Hopefully immigration will agree but you still need to do the TM30
Dana *******
1. Ask them if they filed the TM30. 2. Make a picture of the screen with your phone. 3. Print.

they said they do so I will have to ask for a screen shot. Not the most cooperative people I have seen. Thanks.

Interesting. I wonder how he got someone from the hotel to go with him. I guess I will.have to wait until 90 day report is due and see what happens.

Why are you filing a 90 day report if you've only been in Thailand for 2 days? You only need to file it if you've been inside of thailand for 90 consecutive days. When you leave and come back those 90 days resets. Unless you plan on living in the same hotel for the next 87 days, or have other business with immigration sooner, then you have no need for a TM30 from them for quite a while.

@Wylie ******
Chaiyaphum immigration now require you to do a new TM30 every time you re-enter the country, (even though my address hasn't changed for 5 years).

They also give you a new 90 Day slip for your passport at the same time. This changed on my last entry in October.
Wylie *******
@Lloyd ********
yes, a lot of offices including Chiang mai require a new TM30 when you re-enter the country. Whether you changed your address or not. That is different than requiring the TM30 from your arrival when completing a 90 day report as the OP is saying Pattaya requires. He could have 30 different TM30s between now and when he needs to file the 90 day report and is saying they require the one upon arrival in addition to his most recent and current one at the time of filing.

I am supposed to file a TM30 upon arrival and show that when I do my 90 day report. New recent requirement. Since I am staying at hotel for now, they are reposible for filing it.
Steve *******
@Chuck ********
You don't need to file the TM30 on your return, the responsibility lies with the hotel or the owner of the property you're staying at. Also I've never needed a TM30 for a 90 days report!

@Steve ******
sorry wrong response. Yes the hotel is supposed to but I need a copy when I file my 90 day report. All the hotel gave me is a letter confirming my registration.
Wylie *******
@Chuck ********
are you sure you need to show the TM30 from arrival? I hadn't heard of that one, but maybe it's office specific like many other things. In Chiang Mai they only care about your most recent and current TM30, which I assume will be different for you when you actually need to file.
Chuck *********

@Wylie ******
Pattaya requirement.
Wylie *******
@Chuck ********
so you are saying that when you file the 90 day report in Pattaya they will ask you for two TM30s? Your most recent TM30 and the one from your arrival if different? Have you actually been asked for this when filing previous 90 day reports?

It feels like perhaps there's the possibility you may be confusing the need to have a TM30 filed for every place you stay overnight and what TM30 is actually required when filing the 90 report.
Chuck *********

@Wylie ******
this will be my 1st 90 day report I have to file. And yes - my understanding is I need to submit my arrival TM 30 along with the 1st 90 day report.
Wylie *******
@Chuck ********
OK. I'm curious to know if it is what you'll actually need in 80+ days when you file it. It's the first I've heard of any office requiring the arrival TM30. Yes, the hotel is required to file the TM30, but is not the one they will want when filing the 90 day report. It's always the most recent, or current TM30. Which based on your other responses will be when you rent a condo in 30 days. Of course each immigration office likes to change rules occasionally so I could be wrong.

pattaya requires it.

Remember your hotel is legally responsible for doing this , a friend of mine recently went to bangkok main immigration office with a letter from the hotel and the officer asked for TM30 copy etc , the hotel forgot to enter the information in the system. My friend was told to come back with someone from the hotel the following day , he did and the hotel was fined 4000 baht. He then presented the TM30 and got his 90 day report
Christopher *************
The hotel would of entered the information in the immigration system ask them for at least a screen shot of the entry made in the system , but they can print off the entry if they know how , hotels ars doing this all the time so should supply at your request

thanks Chris. I tried that and they only said they submit the report daily but could not provide a copy for me. Staying at a fairly large hotel Vogue Pattaya so cannot understand why.

@Chuck ********
you can go to a police station too for a TM30 entry

thanks Jan, I missed your answer earlier. So I need to go to immigration myself and file the TM 30 then with the letter from the hotel.

@Chuck ********
That’s what I did when I applied for extension and a Thai driver license, both requires TM30. I stayed in hotel Golden Sea Soi Buakhau, same practice as Vouge obviously.

I assume you did it when submitting your 1st 90 day report then?

Agency only told me I need a copy from hotel....

For me this was sufficient and I just made the TM30 my self at the immigration and also gave the documentation from the hotel.
