TLDR : Answer Summary
When staying at a hotel in Thailand, your location may be reported to immigration through the hotel registration process. If you are living permanently in a hotel, you will still need to submit a TM30 form and complete the 90-day reporting requirement. You can file your 90-day report at any immigration office in Thailand, not just the one associated with your residence, and you can submit your TM30 at the Muang Thong Thani immigration office if you need to change your address.

Remember
@Wa***
you don't do a change of address at Chaengwattana, that's handled by filing a TM30 out at the Muang Thong Thani immigration office.

Thanks, will likely be a more speedy process than CW?

That's what I'm trying to tell you
@Wa***
:/ you can't change your address at Chaengwattana.

They moved Counter B <-(the TM30 counter) & Counter A <-(the 90 day reporting counter) out to the Muang Thong Thani Immigration office location in July of last year.

If you're going to change your address (as in file a new TM30 because Bangkok doesn't do TM28 change of address forms anymore) you're going to go to that location at this address :)

you can do a 90 days report AT ANY IMMIGRATION OFFICE inside Thailand by visiting them personally . It is NOT limited to the branch of Immigration servicing the area where you reside

we're NOT gonna get into this because you know as well as I do whether it's written on a website or not, the answer is "as a general rule" you do your 90 day reporting at the office where you got your extension and where you TM30 is filed for your primary address. ๐Ÿ™‚ That's the answer we're sticking with when people ask about it okay?

OR

you go to the immigration office in the area where you're staying and ASK them if they'll let you do one there ๐Ÿ˜•

Sheesh, I can't even remember how many times the immigration websites in thailand have had the wrong information on them..

true . . . well, the wording on the website of Thai Immigration is:

So if your 90 day report is due but you are staying in an hotel away from your residential address as per your yearly Non - Immigration visa extensions , can use the receipt from the hotel to amend your TM30 by taking to the nearest Immigration Office and also submitting your 90 day report there ?

Sorry if this sounds long- winded but just checking if this is possible or not. Thank you.

@Ellie ******
, thank you for your response. I am in Phuket right now and theis 0office said they will. Just have to update TM30 on return to Chiang Mai they advised. A couple of years ago Chiang Mai said only their office would deal with my 90 dsys report .... interpretations of rules vary from one IO to another though and this seems to be another example .

That you have to ask the immigration office where you are staying. Only a few immigration offices let you submit your 90days report of extension which issued from another immigration office.

Thanks Tod and Edward...Will self file Change of address and then start online 90 days if the system is up and running.

IF the filed a TM30 on you with the online program before it went down on Feb 18th you'd be in the system after that date up to today you wouldn't

AND you still do 90 day reporting that has nothing to do with where your address is. I know a lot of people who live full time at hotels

Rcd 12 month extension using my still current residential address (as per lease). New lewase signed but accommodation is actually for my wife and her carer out at Nonthaburi. I will stay out there only when carer is on days off. But will actually be staying at hotel permananetly so will do a change of addresss at CW in the next few days using the new monthly hotel receipt. After that will hopefully be able to do online or postal 90 days. (Applying your earlier comment about Nonthaburi Imm to my risk assessing mind). Thanks again Tod. I reckon you admin guys are gonna have a lot of new considerations soon.......Thailand is gonna be a safe haven go-to retireent venue post-covid,,,,
