with a retirement visa, I'm staying at a large brand name hotel chain long term signed a rental agreement with them
If I leave the country for a few days and come back to the same hotel I've been staying at and I didn't check out of my room does the hotel still file a TM30 or TM47? or do I have to file it?
Very confused on these requirements, thanks for your help

TLDR : Answer Summary
When you return to Thailand after traveling, it's important to inform the hotel of your arrival back to ensure they file a new TM30 registration for you. The hotel is responsible for this, but you should confirm with them and request a copy of the TM30 registration for your records. The TM47 reporting, which is a 90-day check-in report, is separate and will require your TM30 to be current.

You need a copy of your up to date tm30 in your passport and the hotel is responsible for doing it but you may have to ask them for a print out which is easily obtained but within 7 days of filing. Your tm47 will not go well if your tm30 is not up to date. I now do both on line which does not require several copies of all documents needed one of which you won't have.
That's fine. You have that choice. I only visit immigration once a year so there's no value for me to carry it. I just print it on the one day I'll need it.
You need to let the hotel know that you returned from overseas so they file a new TM30 for you. TM47 is a 90 day report and has nothing to do with your hotel.
