What to Do If Hotels Cannot Provide a TM30 Registration Receipt for Visa Extensions in Thailand?

Having stayed in 3 well known hotel chains in the last 2 weeks in Phuket and Bangkok, it seems that they are not at all geared up for providing you with a copy of a TM 30 registration receipt. I feel that I am the first person to ever ask for this... Anyone else had similar issues and if so how did you demonstrate TM30 registration with immigration if living in a hotel and going for visa extensions?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Many expats face challenges when requesting a TM30 registration receipt from hotels in Thailand, as some hotel staff are not familiar with the process. To demonstrate TM30 registration when applying for visa extensions, it is advised to refer to 'Section 38' if staff are unaware of TM30. If the hotel system is down, ask for proof of submission, such as an email sent to the local immigration office. Some expats have successfully used booking confirmations and hotel business cards instead of TM30 receipts for immigration purposes.

What is a TM30

it’s a form used by the property owner to inform immigration that a foreigner is staying on the property. It must be filed no later than one business day after arriving on the property

When I was on a TR visa immigration only asked me for a booking confirmation (email) and a business card from the hotel.

The only problem I have had is when I did my 90 day report away from my home province. My immigration Officer was not at all pleased and explained that I should have done ut again on my return home. If I had been away between my 90 day reports it would have been ok. The subject of TM 30 never came up and did not cause a problem nor did the fact that I obtained my retirement extension in Bangkok. When I did submit my tm30 for my main residence it was over a year late and that did not cause a problem either. I have no idea if the hotels I have stayed in have ever submitted a TM 30 on my behalf but I have only ever filed one at home because I required a residence certificate.

1. If they don't know what a TM30 is, say "Section 38". They should know what that is.

2. If they still don't know what that is, show them this picture. Ask them to print out the middle or bottom slip.

3. If they say the system is down, then ask them to print out TM30/ Section 38 e-mail they sent to the local immigration office with your information, and show the e-mail and the TM30 form they submitted to the immigration officer. The immigration office WILL accept that e-mail with the backup information.

based on what the German manager told me they changed the registration system recently. All he had was a list of names of people who had checked in along with an immigration registration number.

The online system is not working unless they physically go to immigration office daily with a list which is not practical as late arrivals etc its not being done
