Hello. I need help. I tried to apply for my DTV visa as a freelancer in Cambodia. And after 15 days, I received an email saying: "Your visa application has been cancelled. wrong country of passport."

Can I call to understand? Or is there nothing to do and I have to reapply in another country?

Thank you for your answers 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user faced a cancellation of their DTV visa application after entering incorrect passport details while applying from Cambodia. Were you in Cambodia at the time of your application and did you apply for the visa from there, and did you also attach a passport entry stamp to your application? Or did you receive a request to provide the entry stamp later and did you then comply with this request and submit it in time?

your country of passport or the issuing authority is the name of the country of the passport, on thai website when you upload your bio data page sometime it makes mistake and you need to double check/triple check before you submit, you can always edit the information before you submit but now you can only apply again and pay fees again....

How can processing time be 15 days when it states "Incomplete applications over 14 days will be automatically removed from the system"?

incomplete means not submitted within 14 days after starting an application, it also means 14 days after an unfulfilled document request

yeah but if I was waiting for a month for my birth certificate, that means that would be 14 days without sending through the paperwork

Anonymous participant 897 It would have been incomplete due to them asking for a document and me not being able to provide it until 2-4 weeks... So yeah, incomplete.

the embassy can take as long as they want. You have 14 days to submit your application or respond to their requests ;-)

You’ll have to apply again unfortunately. Sounds like you entered the incorrect passport details.

The information was scanned by entering the passport and it was correct.

There seems to be a common reported problem with the scanning of passports, selects wrong country (and overwrites what you had entered manually), after scanning best to just reenter everything again manually

well, there must have been some incorrect data in there otherwise they wouldn’t have rejected it based on the given reasoning. Either, an error from your part or maybe a glitch in the system. Did you double, or triple check before submitting ?

I have already asked a question regarding place of issue in this group. So far, everyone advised me to copy exactly the text under the section "authority" from your passport and not add anything else

- Really? I feel like this has been a major reason for why applications have been canceled. Did you succeed?

I cannot recall for sure and did not screenshot the pages of my application form. However, I am pretty sure that I entered "xxxxxx Embassy in Beijing" and my visa got approved.

Whenever I've submitted any application form that asks for 'Place of Issue,' I've always entered the information listed under 'Authority,' as shown in this example, and it has never caused me any issues. Therefore, I’m confident that the application for the DTV visa should be no different!

. This has always been the correct procedure across all application forms I’ve ever submitted in Thailand and abroad. Never caused me one issue, so I find what those people are saying very difficult to believe. There must be something else at play here.

Anonymous participant 307 - What visa applications have you submitted for Thailand and what embassy? Only reporting what we have seen happen many times here. Really doesn’t matter what other countries do though. Your passport says “authority” and the question Thailand is asking is place of issue.

John Macom Authority means "issuing authority". Not all countries separate the one from the other. My German passport says the "issuing authority" is the German embassy in Bangkok. This is what I wrote on my application and it was approved. I wouldn't write something that's not on the info page of your passport. A German passport does not have the "issuing country" field the way that a Canadian passport does.

What would you write using the Canadian passport example above? Would you write Canada as the place of issue or would you simply copy "Gatineau" from the authority section?

as per my experience you only need to write the country name of the passport and not the city por anything...i never had any issue

Canada, based on the number of rejections posted stating place of issue does not match nationality.

- Did you actually write France and not a province name or an embassy (if you reissued passport overseas)? Unfortunately all decisions are final
