TLDR : Answer Summary
The user applied for a DTV visa while in Vietnam but received a rejection due to incorrect passport details. Comments suggest that this is a common issue, often arising from misidentifying the country of passport issuance. Many respondents advise the user to reapply, ensuring accuracy in the form fields. It's noted that the fees are non-refundable, emphasizing the importance of reviewing all information before submission.

You don’t live in Vietnam and they really want you to apply at your home consulate 🤦🏻‍♂️

I nearly did the same, it's very easy to input the country of your passport as Vietnam when actually that's the place you're applying in. Very first box on the first page of the form, is quite woolly but should read your country of passport issue, not where you're applying from as the answer. I only spotted it at the summary before submit, had to cancel the application and do a whole new one to fix it. I reckon given your reason provided in the email that's what's happened to you.

probably wrong passport

I do not understand why some people laughing, be happy with other mistakes is very disgusting, sorry for for you mate, everyone can commit mistakes, good luck and I hope you can fix it and get the money back (if I were you, I would try to go in person to the embassy and talk with a human). Best regards 🙏

Looks like you’ve lost your application fee but if you reapply now you should still get approved. Just have to be careful with accuracy they are banking on these errors with the no refund policy
Fabian *******
@Dom *******
do you know any country which has refund policy for visa applications?
Dom ********
@Fabian ******
no why would they have a refund policy? What’s ur point lol
Fabian *******
@Dom *******
my point is “they are banking on these errors with the no refund policy” is just such joke and you pointed like Thai Government is an exception. When you compare Thai Government to other countries especially to schengen region or us then they do not have idea how to “banking” people. 😝

@Fabian ******
you’re genuinely just making assumptions mate, of course there’s a no refund policy the responsibility is on the applicant to get things right. Small errors = no visa = more money from re applications.

No judgement from me, this is how the world works 💰

Never choose other country when apply visa a big fool stick to ur county and correct passport

less than 1% apply in their home country. Almost all apply in a surrounding country to Thailand as most are already in Thailand and leave just to apply. They chose a place inexpensive to get to. Super unhelpful comment and VERY wrong

It’s so clear.

„Applicant chose the wrong country of passport (Vietnam)“

I once applied twice for a tourist visa to Thailand and had my passport number autofill - and twice had it denied over wrong passport info. I had one extra digit duplicated I missed twice. Both times visa fee used up.

Unfortunately you cannot get your money back once an application is rejected. In the email it says it was denied due to your passport details are incorrect. It may be a careless mistake but there is no way to appeal. You will have to reapply and pay again. It is dissapointing, but there is no way to correct it, sorry.

You said you are Vietnamese while your are American. You got confused between your citizenship and your location….. sorry for you buddy!

You filled in the form wrong. Try again and do it properly

Everyone is right wrong country passport. Reapply but triple check everything before paying. If doesn’t make sense ask on here or email embassy. Unfortunate if you uploaded the USA passport but like they said it your responsibility. I wonder how many errors they make money on? 1 in 10 applications

In the process, you put your current location (hotel where you are at this time), right?

…and your home address in the other field?

Please understand the following

Context: My first application was cancelled due to an incorrect Passpirt expiry date which the system auto uploaded and I did not correct

1. It is the FULL Responsibility of the applicant (you) to ensure all information provided is correct, any mistakes that cannot be cross referenced correctly will result in a cancelation

2. There is no communication process from applicant to embassy other than via the web portal, the only communication allowed is when you upload requested docs

3. This is is the system

It seems that you filled in the wrong country for your passport, that's why they canceled the application. If you re-apply, fill in the country of your passport. There maybe another field where they ask for your current location, that's where you fill in Vietnam.

I’m flying to Hanoi right now and will apply on line as I reach hotel

You cant fix e-visa applications, that is why they tell you to review everything in detail. Unfortunately, you have lost the money as well.
