TLDR : Answer Summary
A user reports their Thai visa application was rejected because the country of passport and nationality did not match. They have a French passport issued by the French Embassy in Mauritius. Community members advise that the application fields were likely mixed up, emphasizing that both the country of passport and nationality should be France. They suggest reapplying and caution against mistakes in form filling that can lead to rejection and additional costs.
it is not possible to appeal, and there is nothing to appeal because they did not make a wrong decision.

On se plaint souvent de l'administration française (à juste titre), on peut se rendre compte que les autres administrations ne font pas toujours mieux ...
The fields „Country of Passport“ and „Nationality“ are predefined for selecting the countries. This should be both selected „France“ in your case. Only „Place of issue“ has no predefined field. There comes „Embassy of Mauritius“. Maybe you made a mistake and choosed „Mauritius“ as „Country of Passport“. 🤔

when you don't check thoroughly then fill visa application

Country of passport: France
Nationality: France
Place of issue: French Embassy Mauritius (or whatever it says on your passport)
Sounds like you got the fields mixed up

An embassy is another countries territory, so "French embassy in Mauritius" is simply France. It's really that simple.
no it is not, French embassy in Mauritius is just French embassy in Mauritius and not France. The Vienna convention describes this. Mauritius has no right to enter the embassy without permission, not even police in case of suspected crimes, but it still is Mauritius and not France.

It is not the Embassy that are ridiculous, you have made a mistake in the part of the application, that most Embassies very explicit write on their website, that you have to make sure the information is 100 % right, since it can not be corrected later, neither by you or the Embassy staff.

I am french too, abroad for 15 years, don’t get confused “country of issuance” is not the physical location but the country from which your passport was issued (your nationality)
I found interesting that if I well remember, the e-visa system to apply for tourist visa won’t let you go through if you make this mistake but not the DTV for which they will get $$ and can reject without any further explanation or assistance

All visa’s can be rejected, and the visa fee is of course non-refundable, since the Embassy has used time to proces the application.
some rare cases can be different. I have a friend who is Syrian nationality but he’s a refugee and can’t get a passport from Syria. So, France is delivering the passport but nationality is “Syrian”

Why mention Mauritius? Country of passport in France and nationality is France, correct?
