What should I do after my DTV visa application was canceled in Vietnam?

Mar 10, 2025
I submitted my DTV visa in Hanoi 🇻🇳 on 2nd March, and they requested for additional documents on 4th which I submitted the next day. It was pending approval since 6th, and I got email yesterday night that my visa application was canceled. When I went to the embassy today morning to ask, they said what they could see in the system is that the documents are not good enough, and that’s all they could say. Is that common recently? I didn’t hear of rejected cases before, but just yesterday I heard that some other people got rejected too.

If I fly back to Thailand now, I think 14 days won’t be enough to make a new plan. So while I’m here, should I apply for TR visa? Are there any rejected cases for that too?

Or would it be okay for me to try DTV visa at another country like Cambodia? Is there a chance to get rejected again since they might have records in their database?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user experienced a rejection of their DTV visa application submitted in Vietnam and is seeking advice on next steps. The embassy cited insufficient documentation as the reason for rejection. Community responses indicate that rejections have occurred recently with some applicants being approved in different countries despite initial rejections. Suggestions include applying for a TR visa while still in Vietnam or attempting to apply for the DTV visa in another country, such as Cambodia or Laos.

You can hire a lawyer in Thailand for around 10k Baht to make sure you get the visa if you meet the requirements (which will be checked first). I already can see the comments on how it's a ripoff and not possible because it's an embassy outside Thailand bla bla bla - guys please, not everyone depends on 10k Baht for their survival...

Isn’t there a high chance of getting rejected again when reapply at the same embassy? Coz they didn’t give any detailed information like which part has problem or how it should be done.

Anonymous participant I don't really know I'm still learning. I won't be going til July

There have been cases of people getting rejected in one country but approved in a different country with exactly the same paperwork. Look up Cambodia in this group to see other people's experiences. I've seen a lot of success stories from jakarta

Which DTV option did you apply for? Workcation/Softpower? You can apply elsewhere. Other have got rejected at one embassy then accepted at another.

Digital marketing.

And I heard that there’s high chance of getting rejected again at another embassy too. But not so sure about that.

I’m not my own, and I have all the required documents submitted. But since they didn’t mention details, it’s hard to know which part has problem or how it could be updated.

Anonymous participant Do you for reputable company? Or your own?

Anonymous participant Others have been rejected then approved elsewhere. You submitted contract, portfolio, certificate of employment, authorization to work remotely, 6mths bank statements?

That's crazy. What does "good enough" even mean? Did they give you a chance to add more documents?
