I just got my DTV visa from the Thai embassy in Hanoi and wanted to share my experience as a freelancer. Here are the key points:
1. They asked for invoices and a government paper proving I'm a freelancer, notarized by a notary.
2. A bank statement showing 500,000 THB wasn't enough; they needed statements from the last six months.
3. The visa fee is $340, cash only in dollars.
4. I had to provide a portfolio since I don't have contracts with companies.
5. Required documents included: six months of bank statements, visa application, passport photo, client invoices, a certificate proving I'm Spanish, passport photocopy, and my portfolio.
6. They also needed a hotel booking or leasing contract for my stay in Thailand, plus a hotel reservation in Hanoi.
7. The staff was unhelpful and had a bad attitude. You must make an appointment online to submit your documents.
I applied on Friday and got the visa today, thanks to an urgent situation with my girlfriend that required us to fly earlier, otherwise they said it takes up to a week. I hope this helps anyone planning to apply!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user shares their experience obtaining a DTV visa as a freelancer from the Thai embassy in Hanoi. Key points include requirements for invoicing and proof of freelance work, needing six months of bank statements, and the visa fee being $340. The process was expedited due to personal circumstances, with the applicant recommending checking specific embassy requirements as they may vary.
Congrats! How did you even get stuff like "government paper proving I'm a freelancer, notarized by a notary" while in Hanoi? Or did you bring it all with you?
About point #2, do you know if you must maintain a balance of 500k baht or it must currently be 500k baht at the time that you apply?
I donโt normally keep 500k baht in a single account, but my income would definitely be satisfactory so Iโm wondering if 500k at time of applying along with the history of decent income is fine?
I assume that your DTV visa sticker is now pasted in your Passport as you applied for it at a Thai Embassy or Consulate which is NOT yet using the Evisa online application system.
