ORIGINAL POSTER
Good Evenings Ladies & Gents i was at Phuket immigration this afternoon & the two helpful Volunteers said they had been told it's 10,000b to do an extension on a DTV visa with them at immigration...

So I guess we'll have to wait and see come Mid January or February when the first lot people decide which option to Take...

As I thought read within this group it would be the standard 1,900b extension fee...

Wish y'all a great evening...

TLDR : Answer Summary
The cost of extending a DTV visa at Phuket immigration is reportedly 10,000 THB, as mentioned by local volunteers. However, some expats are skeptical and believe the standard extension fee should be 1,900 THB, a figure supported by experiences from other immigration offices in Thailand. This discrepancy has led to confusion, with suggestions to avoid extension requirements by opting for border runs instead. Conversations highlight varying practices across different immigration offices, with some advocating for cost-effective alternatives if extension fees become prohibitive.

For a 10,000 renewal fee, might just be better to bounce over to Cambodia or Lao or Malaysia and have a short trip while there.

Oh dear lord this thread is not helpful all (sorting through, confused ?_?). Actually, kinda getting out of control.

yep, knew as soon as I read it that this would turn into a sh*t show 😛

"news outlets" in Thailand are complete speculation

All visa extensions are 1900baht Wether it's 7 days or 1 year.
Stuart *********
@Jimmie ******
Yep. That’s true for all existing extensions.

Interesting… I asked an immigration officer at Phuket Town immigration and was told that an extension to DTV would be THB$1900. As many have mentioned, I guess we will only know for sure in about another 100days!
Kevin *******
If a 30-day extension cost 1900THB then a 180-day extension should cost more. Why would they charge the same fee for a longer extension ? I guess it makes sense.
Lyle *********
@Kevin ******
wow, common sense on the Internet. Did not expect to see that today 😂😂

@Kevin ******
omg we have a brillant brain here

cheaper to fly out of thailand to neighbour country and fly back in

And all you need to show is your original DTV approval PDF or DTV sticker if you used an embassy/consulate. No worrying about whether your original documents you used at an embassy/consulate or on the evisa site will be enough for whichever immigration office you try to extend at.
Rob *********
I already said this in this forum and some people said that I was very wrong 😂, an extension is 10.000 thb not 1900 as many though, if not it would be very different price compared to the other visas available.

@Rob ********
In Bangkok the extension is 1900 Baht. Perhaps Phuket is "going it alone" - wouldn't be the first time 😂
Dan *******
If they price it too high then people will exit and enter instead right?
Toni *******
@Dan ******
yeah you get a holiday for same price so why not take it

We simply dont know yet..

The notes from the cabinet meeting discussed 10k.. But the royal gazette publication which is the law didnt.

I think making it 10k is counter productive as a border hop avoids it.. Seems too easy to save the cost. But stranger things have happened.

I'm sure each immigration office will come up with a whole variety of weird and confusing requirements for the extension.

@Rick **********
the whole point of this Visa was to make things easier and for some reason everything seems way more difficult now. Lol

what seems more difficult?

constantly adding and changing rules. Just kept reading on this forum that immigration offices are now announcing they're going to charge 10,000 baht for extension. It also gives you the option of crossing a border but don't you think they're going to start charging that at the border too? Now if you sign up for this Visa, I'm guessing you're not going to be allowed to apply for any other type of visa for the next 5 years. And they can raise the price at any point and do anything they want. I don't know for sure but I'm just suspicious there's a master plan here to make everybody pay first, lock in, and then they just can't help themselves with their sticky little fingers. But I've been here 13 years and I speak the language so that's just my current impression. But who knows. My application is now delayed by a month because I have a ton of money on my brokerage account that is liquid and not purchased any stocks. But I just transferred it one day after the statement. Ends and now I have to wait 4 weeks just to show them a statement. Does this sound like they're trying to make this happen for everybody? To me it sounds like it's going down in a pile of flames at rapid speeds. The requirements get more ridiculous by the day.

Every immigration office, consulate and embassy has their own unique visa/extension requirements and pricing. For that reason I will be avoiding any extension requirement lottery and sticking to border bounces where I just show my original DTV approval pdf and get a new stamp. That'll also help me stay under 180 days in Thailand until I figure out the lay of the land re: the new taxation policies. 🙂 EDIT: Hey Mar Wan! Just realized it was you. 😀
Greg ********
@Paul *******
They do not have their own pricing. An extension is 1900 Baht
Paul ********
And a DTV (not the extension) costs? In Taipei or in New Zealand? Read my post again. I was saying that by doing an extension vs. reset by leaving and returning, we are opening ourselves to the inconsistencies of these offices. Those documents we used to get our DTVs may not work to get us our extensions because of these differences. I wasn't commenting about extension prices because nobody knows this.
Stuart *********
@Paul *******
Regardless of what the tax implications may be they would almost certainly be based on 180 days being in Thailand within a calendar year - not consecutive periods.

All will be revealed in the next few months - or it may not transpire at all.
Paul ********
@Stuart ********
We agree then. :)
Siggi *******
@Paul *******
don't spread lies, there is no different pricing, there is one pricing by law!
James ********
@Siggi ******
not as you may like to think 🤔.
Stuart *********
@Siggi ******
Really? For everything? Perhaps you need to read posts on different visa forums to realise that there is little standardised pricing across the various immigration offices. Yes for extensions they are standard at probably all offices but as to the cost of a resident certificate or a fine you’d get for a late TM30 filing or 90 day report then pluck a figure out of the ether as to what your local office may charge.
Siggi *******
@Stuart ********
residence certificate is a free service, it is mentioned in the law, and the fine for not doing 90 days report is 1600 baht
Stuart *********
@Siggi ******
Yep. COR free from many offices if you’re prepared to wait a week. Anywhere from 200, to 500 for an “expedited” same day service.

It’s actually 2,000 baht for a late 90 day report for most offices but deals are possible…

What the law says and what the office says may be different.

Re-read my post and go easy on the accusations champ.
