I am a dual passport citizen and tried to apply via Los Angeles/USA and the cost is $400 (14,000 thb)

If I apply from Brasilia/Brazil the cost is $350 (12,500 thb)

Wondering which country actually charges 10,000thb

Anyway let's see.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion explores the varying costs of Thai visa applications at different embassies, specifically mentioning costs in the USA and Brazil. Many participants note that Laos is the only place confirmed to charge 10,000 THB for a visa, emphasizing the impact of currency conversion at other locations. The conversation also touches on the importance of residence over physical location when applying for visas.

An extra 4000 baht for a five year visa? Works out at US$20 a year. I thought this visa was to encourage people to spend money, and already the Cheap Charlies are coming out of the woodwork

UK is £300, that is like 13K

@Steven ******
Same here in Germany, about 13k Baht

You have to use the embassy for the country you are physically in at the time you apply. You can't pick and choose based on passports

I have applied for, and been granted several visas from the Embassy in the US, while not being in the US.

They care more about "residence" and less about physical location.

So you lied in your applications when asked for proof of "current location"

It's different wording to other eVisa applications then

, I appreciate your "opinions" but Thai immigration does not.. Sorry! I am sure one day they will call you and ask what they should do, but until then, it is safe to assume your opinions have no influence on their decisions.

When you come to Thailand you will see there are the written rules and then there are teh enforced rules (probably the same for most every country).

Here in Thailand you will see people driving down the wrong side of the road. You will see police taking bribes. You will see many government take bribes. It may not be fair or right (according to your opinion) but it is what it is.

Mine wasn't an opinion it was my experience from eVisa applications (and I am HERE in Thailand after recently completing one). You have expressed an opinion on what the MFA means "They care more about "residence" and less about physical location.", not me.

I stand corrected.

I don't give advice on how to break the law or bribe officials. If you wish to do so that is your choice and your responsibility

@Graham *****
Application doesn't ask that. It asks nationality and residence.

I don't know the exact wording but I'm pretty sure it doesn't mean your country of residence it means where you are residing

Not for this visa. If you can read English you'd know that

5 year visa and people whining about an extra few baht 🙄

I suggest you fly to Brazil and save the $50. If you can find a return flight cheaper than $50...

Laos is 10k, and Norway is actually less than 10k when exchange rates are factored in.

(not all support evisa)

Great overview. Curious: It mentions there that the DTV application must be made at the consulate or the country of (remote) employment. I am not sure that is correct. So far it seemed that the DTV application must be made from wherever the applicant is based at the time of application.

What would be your cost to travel to another country to save 4000 baht ??

I think he's planning on walking to Brazil to save the money...

The only place I've heard is the Thai embassies in Laos who will accept baht. So they will accept 10,000 baht for your application. Anywhere where there is a conversion rate involved, you're going to pay more. In some places SIGNIFICANTLY more (looking at you New Zealand)

no. in Norway it is less then

after conversion :)
