What should I do after my DTV visa application was rejected in Hanoi?

Hello

Unfortunately my application has been rejected in Hanoi

DTV Soft power thai cooking 6month course with House of Taste Bangkok

French passport

Applied 13/08

Pending approval 14/08

Rejected 20/08

No other documents requested simply rejected.

Provided :

4month current account bank statement with more than 500k baht and saving account with more than 4 millions baht

Proof of location in Hanoi (booking, stamp, google maps shot, payment receipt)

School document (DBD, Proof of payment, class example and stuff)

Since they don't provide any explanation on why they reject your application I wonder what's my next best move.

Either I try to apply from HCMC/Jarkata embassy or I maybe change course to Muay Thai, go with an agent ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A French citizen's application for a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) for a 6-month Thai cooking course was rejected in Hanoi despite providing substantial financial documentation and proof of accommodation. The rejection was given without explanation, prompting the applicant to seek advice on whether to reapply in HCMC or Jakarta, change courses, or hire an agent. Comments from the community suggest checking application details for accuracy, ensuring documentation meets embassy standards, and considering different schools or visa types. The general consensus indicates that applicants should provide clear, consistent documentation and may have better luck reapplying with the same school in another location.

Did you show where you are living in Thailand such as a lease agreement

Have to be sure the company you are doing your soft skill through is registered. Its weird they didn't provide a reason because when my visa got rejected they told me exactly why
Mark **********
Surely at some point they are going to work out that giving someone a 5 year multiple re-entry Visa to live in Thailand when they are only on a 6 month soft power cooking or Muay Thai course doesn't make sense.
Anonymous ******************
I have heard some people got 6 months METV visa instead of DTV when they signed up for 6 months or less Muay Thai. Perhaps they are rejecting now if you do 6 months or less soft power?

Sorry to here that. It can be many reasons,

1. How you fill out your application

2. Some documents of school not eligible for DTV which means documents not enough to get approved.

3. Proof of location not enough

Need to check all details and find it out before you re-apply otherwise you will lose embassy fee again. If you need assistance for DTV you can message me đŸ‘đŸŒ

I just got approved using HoT so it isn't the school. Two things:

- Double check your info is correct (especially your passport detaiIs)

- Your financial information. Don't send information for two different accounts. I would recommend sending just the savings account information. Also, make sure the savings account is truly a savings account. Not a brokerage account or some other account.

Other than those two things I don't know what else you could have done to cause the rejection. Good luck with re-applying!

While still in Hanoi, try an agent like Issa Compass. They have a refund offer, too. Changing to Muay Thai after applying for cooking could be a red flag. I’d try another cooking school, which that agent above has promos with. Maybe u could make a trip to HCM for ur 2nd attempt, best of luck!
Derek *****
And make sure u send photos of ur Vietnam boarding pass, hotel details, map to hotel location, and pictures with you in the hotel. If you can add timestamps, that’s the best thing to do.

It appears that they’re getting very strict now. I have sees so many rejections over the past month. I wonder what’s causing this ?
Anonymous ******************
Anonymous participant 701 Greed. Instead of 10k for the visa (early bird price), they now want people to pay 70k for an agent, who then gives most of it to the government.
Anonymous ******************
Anonymous participant 770 but I believe the general opinion here is that agents don’t have any power over consulate staff??

Participant anonyme 701 in Hanoi?

Amazing how people are still under the impression this is somehow an easy 5 year visa. What a scam.

It’s definitely not a financial issue. You pass those with flying colours.

Perhaps the information you filled in?

Try HMCH and same cooking course. Double check your information.

@Don ******
Yeah I could have made a typing mistake, the only I see is place of issue I put France while on my passport it shows Ambassade de France en Corée

Don’t know if could be reason for rejection
Don *******
Anonymous participant my passport was issued in “Singapore” and I hold an European passport. I still put in the European country because that’s where it’s produced

Check if your bank documents name matches. Address proof matches?

Could be a typo and the case agent just pressed reject instead of request for information (I had request for my bank statement 2x because I didn’t notice my name was in Cantonese and not alpha letters)
Kyaw **************
Sorry to hear about that.

Did you get full refund from school? I am wondering as I was thinking about trying soft power DTV with that school.

@Kyaw *************
I haven’t ask them yet for refund I will try apply with them again in HCMC this time

@Kyaw *************
you should! and also use their DTV service, i dont regret it
Anonymous ******************
Sorry to hear about this. You really seem to have done everything right. I would also retry in Jakarta then and since you already paid for the cooking class and other members confirmed that this cooking school is usually accepted by the authorities, I would try it again with their documents.

Anonieme deelnemer 168 my DTV was granted with a proof of stay for 6 months during the stay which the anonymous rejection of this post did not mention so i guess that was probably the thing

If u have put saving account statement chances would have higher chances, current account is not recommended
Nick *******
AuthenticPassionfruit644 nonsense. Current account is fine
AuthenticPas************
@Nick ******
dont misguide others read the requirements of embassy
Nick *******
AuthenticPassionfruit644 here you go so you can educate yourself - probably not interested in facts but hopefully others are
************************************************************
Nick *******
AuthenticPassionfruit644 you have to show ‘evidence of sufficient financial assets’ which can take the form of an ‘official bank statement’. You don’t know what you are talking about.
Don *******
AuthenticPassionfruit644 he had over 4M baht equivalent in the savings account. They can see that on the statement. You can only submit 1 bank document so it would have shown on current and savings
AuthenticPas************
@Don ******
most consulates needs saving account statement if u confuse them with multiple accounts they will reject it
Nick *******
AuthenticPassionfruit644 have you applied at most consulates then? 🙄
Don *******
AuthenticPassionfruit644 both accounts had over 500K baht in it. They can read statements
Anonymous ******************
AuthenticPassionfruit644 what does this mean?

Anonymous participant 467 check again

Sorry to hear your DTV got rejected! My application also included a proof of address in bangkok for my 6 months stay. Also my passport have been issued by my country's embassy abroad and with the same school and got granted just a few days ago in jakarta...
Anonymous *************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@VZ ***
I did include proof of booking accommodation in Bangkok but only for 3-4 weeks via Airbnb. I told them on my cover letter than I will look for a long term accommodation when I will be in Bangkok.
AuthenticPas************
Must be problem with school
Anonymous ******************
AuthenticPassionfruit644 I have also successfully used this school. They are approved and provide the necessary paperwork.
Nick ******
AuthenticPassionfruit644 nope, got mine from them, same embassy as well. But with an agent, which is worth using for 'guaranteed approval'.
VZ ****
AuthenticPassionfruit644 thats definietly not the case because i just got a DTV granted with the same school and am very satisfied with the offered service
AuthenticPas************
@VZ ***
maybe problem with filled documents and statements

Everything looks fine, do you have any current or previous criminal records. Have you been a frequent visitor to Thailand, have you ever over stayed?

Also check your application in case you didn’t put your name in full as shown on your passport, check date of birth etc, check all the info provided. How many years on your current passport do you have left etc

Otherwise it’s difficult to know why you were rejected?
Anonymous *************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@John ********
No criminal record, I have been living in Thailand the past 5.5 months under tourism visa, no overstay I did first 60 day with 30 day extension and flight out for another 60 days + 30 extension. Flight out of Bangkok last week to apply in Vietnam for DTV.

My passport expire 2034. Could be the school. I was thinking aswell as place of issue, I put France and my passport have been issue by the French embassy in Seoul I don’t know if they could be a cause of rejection.

I really have no idea what could be the cause of rejection
John **********
Anonymous participant did you write the place of issue or authority exactly as its written in your passport?
Anonymous *************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@John *********
I put France for place of issue and in my passport it’s « Seoul ambassade de France en CorĂ©e »
John **********
Anonymous participant then that might be the issue
John *********
Anonymous participant Noted. With the booking school how did you apply, direct with them, presumably they are genuine, have you checked they are one of the official accredited schools under the DTV. Otherwise you just have to enter the details as shown on your passport. Did you submit every page (including blank pages) of your passport in a pdf file, i used IlovePDF app to compressed the pdf file etc. Otherwise check all other details were entered correctly. Sorry other than that I can't really suggest anything else GL
Maarten *******
Have you tried to contact them to get more info?
VZ ****
@Maarten ******
they will never give any information or reason for the rejection so not really worth trying
