Hi everyone! DTV work action was rejected at Hanoi Embassy.
I submitted my application on the 30.9, got 3 emails asking for further documentation.
Now, in my case I had a non B visa & work permit, all of which was cancelled, expired & company ownership transferred to someone else via the lawyer I worked with.
Provided all the needed documents (bank statement with the funds, company letter, company registration outside Thailand, proof of source of income).
Then they asked for further information about work permit & business registration in Thailand - provided that alongside the proof of transfer of ownership & cancelled work permit.
Yet, it was rejected saying “not eligible for DTV, please apply for non B visa & work permit again.” Which is not the route for me as I don’t have any company anymore in Thailand.
Anyone experienced similar challenge? Any advise?
Going to the embassy tomorrow to ask for clarification…
Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shares their experience of having their DTV visa application rejected by the Hanoi Embassy after providing numerous required documents. They previously held a non-B visa and work permit, but after the company's ownership was transferred, they faced difficulty in proving their eligibility for the DTV visa. Comments from other users suggest various approaches, including reframing the application to emphasize remote work for a non-Thai company and ensuring proper financial documentation is provided.
Did you also provide a personal saving bank statements under your name with the ending balance of no less than 500,000 THB or 16,000 USD in the last 3 months? Please note that this is the MAIN requirement of Financial funds from all Thai embassy in Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, Philipines, and many other countries. If you dont have these amount in the last 3 momths your visa will not get approved.
How long ago was ownership of the Thai company transferred? When did you cancel your Non-B and work permit? What did you show for your source of income and did it reference the Thai company at all?
that might be your problem. If you were on an extension of stay rather than an actual visa your extension of stay died the moment you cancelled your work permit. So you would have been on overstay from July
- So, you can imagine the red flags that raises with the embassy. You are doing the same job, but prior you needed a work permit for that same job. Now you are trying to tell them you don’t need a work permit for the same job.
You shouldn’t have mentioned it, they’re thinking that you will work physically in Thailand with that Thai company
Apply again but saying you’re a remote worker working online travelling through Asia showing proof of your funds and a letter form the company that employs you saying you can work online etc
But don’t mention the Thai company and work permit
Anonymous participant 786 yeah I think they didn’t like the fact that there was previously a Thai company present. We spoke to an agency now & even though we have all the right papers they recommend us to go the soft power route in our case, applying to the embassy in Laos.
Was the company related? the type of job? Think yourself, would it look weird to you, if someone gives up a perfectly good company and visa, but wants to stay in the same country with a visa that is technically worse, but working online?
