Is it possible to reapply for a Thai DTV visa in Hanoi after a rejection in HCMC?

I applied for a soft-power visa in HCMC, but my DTV application was rejected due to income issues. Honestly, I'm frustrated with . Thai embassy in HCMC. Now, I'm planning to head straight to Hanoi. Does anyone know if it's possible to apply again in Hanoi just one week after being rejected in HCMC? If not, would it be better to apply from Laos instead?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user recently had their soft-power DTV visa application rejected in HCMC due to income-related issues and is considering reapplying in Hanoi or from Laos. The comments suggest mixed experiences, with some recommending trying Hanoi again despite potential stricter reviews, while others advise applying in Cambodia or Jakarta where previous applicants have had success.

May we know Your turnover You show to them for last 6 months.. Maybe they consider to low even 500 k is there ..? I would recommend go to the country where they still accept applications in person at embassy where the fee is paid upon approval ..

@Artur *********
can you share a few names of those countries where they accept in person?

Not anymore. That's now an Evisa.

Can you detail what you supplied in your application related to finances? Were you asked for further documents? How long was your 500K in the bank? How many months was the bank statement you supplied?

Try in Jakarta.

They want to see that you have money to support yourself. You aren't going to live in Thailand for 5 years on 500k baht

exactly I agree

They want people spending money not just surviving

Recent report of DTV application being ‘cancelled’ by Hanoi with no explanation provided. Also, a comment by a Vietnamese person that Hanoi are tougher than Saigon. I would try Laos instead.

Hanoi approved quite a few worktation routes. Perhaps there were error in their applications? I wouldn't completely disregard it as option as it certainly is still one of the fastest embassies (granted all ducks in order) to approve, alongside Jakarta and Cambodia .

@Tammi ****
so you are saying it's better to apply at HCMC if you are going the freelance remote work route?

In reality, applying as a workation may seem more difficult at first, but it is much safer in the long run (many assume they will never be asked to provide proof of ongoing activity which may change and is already happening in rare occasion) and less costly than a soft power approach. You just need to make sure you qualify...

If I were 10,000 baht down I’d be most reluctant to apply again to the same Country. However, as you say, each case could be different.

A cancelation means you entered something incorrectly via the online portal. They didn’t even get to the stage of looking over documents or asking for additional documents.

They didn’t state any reason. Was it the result of a ‘glitch’ that he needs to be made aware of in order to stop it happening again?

- one of the main issues is when you upload your bio page from your passport, it will autofill the associated cells with the data that it reads, even overwriting information you already entered into those cells. It has been mentioned by many people that this auto fill process has entered incorrect data. Other main issues for cancellation are applying to the wrong embassy. For example, if your friend is in southern Vietnam and applied via Hanoi, they would cancel. The third issue that has popped up is what you enter for where passport was issued. Many people received new passports while outside their country and therefore the passport shows that your passport was issued at your country’s embassy in that specific foreign country. If you enter this and not your passport country, they will cancel,

I am sure there was a recent post by a Brit being asked how they will support themselves while on a Soft Power Muay Thai.

You can reapply. But you should make sure you application is fully correct.

They don’t really ask for income, so I’m confused why it would be an issue

@Wesley *******
They do now. More and more.

@Wesley *******
I applied in HCMC and they asked for extra documentation showing proof of monthly income. I also applied via soft power.

@Andries ********
what income you provide?

Anonymous participant 881 I gave them signed contract for my job starting in April. I explained it is as freelancer and what the payment structure looks like.

i would recommend you to jump to the Thai embassy in Jakarta some travelers went there and gat DTV visa with no issues
Tammi *****
Can try Hanoi. It's a risk, but it's possible they review applications separately and don't necessarily communicate

I don't understand why did you have income issues with a soft power DTV ? Income is not necessary for soft power DTV ? Please specify why exactly they rejected you ?

@Tim **********
More and more embassies are requesting it. They want to ensure that you can sustain yourself and will not work illegally in Thailand. It may soon become a standard requirement for all Soft Power holders and applicants.
