My thought too. It was a bit too good to be true when it first came. I wanted to see how it would evolve after 2 years as I was a bit skeptical it would be like an almost free Thai Elite visa. And the current nationalist government is not here to make any gift to foreigners compared to the previous one.

Thanks for reporting. That is something I was expecting to happen at some point unfortunately since they closed bank accounts for DTV holders and became stricter with visa exemptions. I would be careful if the plan is to get some kind of Thai residence with the DTV. Some people here with DTV were bashing heavily users of visa exemptions while forgetting their DTV was also just a long term tourist visa.

Well they are not consistent between each other. As there is no proper written rule, each agent makes its own arbitrary decision above 2 exemptions. According to reports, some will take the piss with several yearly exemptions, others will quickly stamp without asking anything.

GiftedFish5406 That is what I understand. So I would be very careful to use BKK as a hub from now.

Honestly you have a bit of time ahead, I would apply for a tourist evisa to avoid the headache. I am not even sure the bureaucrats who made that mess would be able to answer to your very specific case.

Not happening right now, but it is a matter of time before they start enforcing it.

It depends. Russia + Japan/South Korea and some European countries now have a true visa exemption. 45 days.

Maybe try to contact them on Twitter. It is common to see companies being much more reactive there. Agoda often has the best deals in Asia ; it would be costly to avoid them.

I think I totally screwed up with the new process. The days where you could show up in person and take your passport with the single visa the new day at the Consulate are over it seems. You need to book 2 weeks in advance in Ho Chi Minh. I did the e-visa process but again it seems you need to wait quite a long time. I did it 5 days before my flight. But I probably will go to Thailand on a visa exemption and extend there as I might not get that bloody e-visa in time.
