Take out from an ATM? That would be many ATM trips. The maximum is 30,000 Baht at Bangkok Bank (as far as I know). 220 Baht per withdrawal. Probably easier in the bank with your card, and most likely cheaper considering the number of withdrawals.

I would strongly advise against having so much cash lying around though.

yes, some. But I don't use them. Perhaps opening a bank account is a privilege....

no, I don't have that. But I was able to open bank accounts at Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn Bank (both in Sattahip)

so is the "Thai Privilege" (previously called Thai Elite) visa. But I have 2 bank accounts...

You basically can't rely on anything or anyone in Thailand but I think this visa will stick around. The requirements may change though

Perhaps they'll conveniently ignore your age if you earn 10k a month...

oh God, OK. Well, good to know. The whole system in Thailand is based on everything being "on a whim" really. That's my impression anyway. If you have put down roots here, I would prefer to have as much security as possible. I have a Thai Privilege visa (when it was called Elite and wasn't quite as expensive as it is today). But it runs out at the beginning of 2026 so I am already on the lookout for something else. In the meantime, I have married a Thai, so I could get a visa based on marriage. But it's good to find out about every option. That's why I'm in this group.
