I went to a pop up Surat Thani immigration centre at Thong Sala, Koh Phangan, Police Station yesterday, 16 Sept., and received a straight "under consideration/ must contact..." stamp dated to 25 October only. I was on a 90 day Non O ME (from Savannakhet on marriage, 60 day in country extension (Samui Imm.) already used and expired, so on amnesty). I was also told that there was no alternative for people in my Non O ME situation with some staff not knowing about this type of visa! I was also asked for a UK embassy letter, which I recently requested and received although not a tourist/ medically unfit to fly.
UK embassy has updated its COVID-19 Visa Extension Applications – Support Letter information. UK residents living here can email the embassy for a letter to extend their existing visas, e.g. Non Imm O 90 day multi entry. This also includes tourists.
I also have a 90 day multi entry non O from Savannakhet, Laos and also get 60 day extensions from Samui immigration. I do not have the requisite 400,000 baht for the usual extension of stay based on marriage or child. My visa expires on 1 May, so I need to return to Laos to apply for a new one year visa. I've just emailed the UK embassy to ask if they will issue a letter, similar to the COVID tourist extension letter, for UK expats in this situation, so we can apply at our local immigration office for an extension. However, to date, Thai immigration have not included this situation in their rule relaxation changes.
