Joni1828 it's a life insurance policy.

You pay 50k per year for 6 years but runs for 14.

If you die during the 14 year term, your beneficiary would get the monetary figure in the Life Coverage column.

If you don't, then it'll pay you out the sum from the Total Benefit For Surrender column.

GSB lottery account is usually better (if you win) or trade stocks for higher returns.

Just over a 25k return over 14 years is pitiful.

If you're lucky and get a dividend payment on top of 3, 4 or 5% it'll pay out more, but no guarantees.

Many people do them, who are working here for the Tax Deductible savings though.

Only a benefit if you pay Thai tax though.

Edit: sorry just saw the comprehensive reply below

Try GiffGaff, they will send a free PAYG SIM to Thailand.

Or you can activate a free e-sim via their app.

Top up as needed and just use every month or 2 to keep it active.

Don't travellers cheques still exist as a last resort option?

For a pre-paid card best to look up in your home country I'd imagine

the renewal process does not involve the British Embassy any longer.

I'm not sure why Melanie said that.

You have to apply through VFS.
