I have never had a return ticket, nor been asked for one, when flying from Australia to Thailand with a current visa in my passport. The only time I have ever been asked about onward travel is when I got a 30-day visa exempt stamp flying in from Seoul.

The time I tried to enter a TM30 in Chiang Mai it was refused. Power of Attorney was required. Some few years ago now.

FWIW in Chiang Mai, I went last Thursday for tourist 30-day extension. Lodged my paperwork at 9:22 am and was on my way home at 10:30.

If you are already on a 30-day extension you can buy another 7 days for 1900 ฿. I think you might need some reason and I expect that you have that.

You can get a second extension of 7 days too. I had to do that once because of flight times. Expensive though! Another 1900 ฿ for just 7 days.

Myanmar has always refused my $10. No doubt because it is rather cheaper. I don't bother trying US$ any more.
