Technically this would be considered a gift. According to the IRS website, the first 19k of a gift have no tax consequences and the doner is responsible for the taxes on the remaining amount. I don’t think my Thai friend is going to lose sleep over it, lol.

Thanks, I get all that. I guess my distilled question is: will I need to show proof of an international transfer or can I just deposit the money he gives me. I’m in Jomtien.
