I’m Aussie but had to take my originals to Bangkok Aus embassy, got my passport, marriage and birth certs certified there, then had to get them translated and MFA stamped for immigration

My bank card needs to be turned on for international purchases, this may be the issue

Depending on your bank you should be able to turn this on/off via the banking app

go to the province govt office and ask if you can without a marriage certificate

I’m in kuchinarai province, KALASIN so I went the the kuchinarai govt office

Can take a few weeks if you don’t give coffee money so I’d get onto it straight away

You may need to get a yellow book to open an account in Roi Et

Birth and marriage certs translated by the correct translator (green and red stamp)

lots of passport photos (5 at least)

Will need a SIM card in your name

TM 30

Thai alien ID card (pink ID card - you get that same time as your yellow book)

1. Evisa for non O (90 days) before you come

2. Fly in and get SIM card

3. Get mrs to do a TM 30 and residence certificate for you at Roi Et immigration

4. Try a few banks with residence certificate , if no luck go for yellow book and ID (translated docs required)

5. With yellow book and ID, and SIM card open bank account

Apply online, simple process

No chance of getting a bank account in the provinces though.

Best to try Vietnam or Cambodia

Same prop, provincial banks want the yellow book, have the non o stamp and the letter from immigration who say that’s all you need

Bank staff just don’t want to help foreigners

They say get the yellow book but I know once that’s done they’ll just find another excuse to deny opening an account

Same issues with Australia, they just reject and reject to raise revenue

Won’t even take their own citizens (ex defence) at their word when offering a guarantee that the person will be supported and taken to the airport when stay is over.
